The 2026 League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) Summer Playoffs are almost here, bringing teams one step closer to completing their ultimate goal of qualifying for the World Championship (Worlds).
Karmine Corp, Team Vitality, and G2 Esports are the leading contenders for the title, but we could see a few surprises along the way. Let's take a closer look at what you can expect from each matchup heading into the Playoffs.
LEC Summer 2026 Playoffs Matches
The 2026 LEC Summer Playoffs kick off on September 5 with two highly anticipated Upper Bracket matches. The winners will meet the following day, with a spot in the Grand Finals and, consequently, qualification for Worlds 2026, on the line.
The LEC will return the following week, on September 11, for the Lower Bracket, where NAVI and MKOI are still waiting to discover their opponents.

Playoffs Biggest Threats
Two games away from the LEC 2026 Summer Finals and sitting first in the Group, Karmine Corp is undeniably one of the biggest threats of the tournament. With a perfect 9-0 record, they are eager to secure their first-ever qualification to Worlds.
However, when the stakes are at their highest, Karmine Corp has struggled to deliver its best performances on stage, as seen twice this year during the LEC Versus and the Spring Split Grand Finals, both lost to G2 Esports.
If they can maintain their perfect run through the Playoffs, they should secure a spot in Round 3, where they could face G2 Esports, the winner of last year's Summer Split.
Despite not finishing second in the Group Stage, G2 Esports remains one of the biggest threats in the tournament, especially as they look to claim their third regional title of the year.
More importantly, G2 has a reputation for raising their level when it matters most, consistently thriving under the pressure of the Playoffs Stage and delivering their best League of Legends when the stakes are high.
Team Vitality could certainly pose a challenge too, but G2 will enter the matchup as the favorites, with a strong chance of securing the win and setting up a Round 3 clash against Karmine Corp.
Who Could Pull Off an Upset?
Based on their consistency in the Group Stage, Team Vitality could be one of the teams capable of causing a surprise in the Playoffs. However, their path won't be easy, as they will face the 2025 Split champions in their opening matchup. Even if they fall short, Vitality should still have a strong chance of making a deep Lower Bracket run.
Vitality's biggest challenge could come in Round 3, where they are likely to face the loser of the Upper Bracket semifinal. That matchup could bring their run to an end, but reaching this stage would still guarantee them their spot at the Worlds 2026. Team Vitality has not qualified for the event since 2018.
Both GIANTX and NAVI could put up a strong fight in the Playoffs if they solve some of their mistakes, but MKOI's performance throughout the season does little to inspire confidence in their chances of winning their opening match.
Predictions: Who Will Win the LEC 2026 Summer Playoffs?
The Grand Final is expected to feature two of the region's usual contenders, Karmine Corp and G2 Esports. However, based on their performances in this year's finals, G2 Esports appears to have the edge and a strong chance of claiming the title.
Team Vitality will most likely secure third place, earning the opportunity to compete in the Play-In Stage at Worlds 2026.

The teams finishing fourth and fifth will instead compete in the Demacia Cup Global Invitational 2026, a newly announced event for teams that fail to qualify to Worlds.
