Fnatic Miss Worlds for the First Time in 10 Years

One of the biggest heavyweights in European League of Legends will not be able to represent the region at Worlds 2026. After their loss to GIANTX to close out the Regular Season, Fnatic failed to qualify for the LEC 2026 Summer Playoffs.
More importantly, though, the loss means that Fnatic will not attend the League of Legends World Championship for the first time in 10 years, breaking a historic streak for an equally historic organization.
Fnatic's Streak at Worlds Comes to an End
There's no denying that Fnatic's glory days are well behind them. The very team that reached the Grand Finals at Worlds back in 2018 has been in a downward spiral ever since. This, however, is a new low.
A combination of Fnatic struggling to find their identity on the Rift and a number of other teams rising in strength in the LEC saw Fnatic struggle to string together wins during this Summer Split.
Coming into their final game of the Regular Season, it was do-or-die time for Fnatic. The team needed to secure a win against GIANTX to reach the Playoffs and keep their hopes of making it all the way to Worlds alive.
Ultimately, the team faltered against the ropes. In the third and final game of their series, Fnatic looked utterly overrun in the mid-game as GIANTX put an end to their season right then and there.
Having failed to reach the playoffs, Fnatic will not get a chance to compete for a spot at Worlds, marking the first time the team misses out on the most important tournament of the season since 2016.
