Gen.G swept LYON 3-0 on Wednesday, November 4, to secure a spot in the Worlds 2026 semifinals of League of Legends. The defeat ends LYON's tournament run and leaves the LCS without a representative in the race for the world title.

The series took place at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas, and marked a rematch from the Swiss Stage. Gen.G had won that encounter 2-1 after coming from behind. This time, the South Korean team did not drop a single game.

How Gen.G Swept LYON in Three Games

LYON got off to a stronger start in Game 1, with its bot lane, led by Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol, picking up two kills at level 2. Gen.G fought back through the top side of the map, where Kim “Kiin” Gi-in on Olaf and Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu on Qiyana helped turn the game around. Gen.G secured Baron, claimed the Hextech Soul and took a 1-0 lead in the series.

Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk took the spotlight in Game 2 on Ashe. Gen.G's bot lane secured two early kills, while Canyon, this time playing Jarvan IV, stole a dragon during a crucial fight. Gen.G continued building its lead and used the Baron buff to push into LYON's base before extending the series score to 2-0.

In Game 3, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon on Taliyah helped Gen.G build an early advantage with a play in the top lane, where Kiin was applying pressure on Aurora. LYON managed to fight back and win several important teamfights, but Gen.G regained control around the Dragon Soul fight, secured Baron and closed out the series with an ace, taking down all five opponents without losing a player.

LYON had been the only team to take a game off Gen.G during the Swiss Stage, but could not repeat that achievement in the quarterfinals. The loss also ends LYON's first appearance in the Worlds knockout stage, after the LCS representative advanced from the Swiss Stage with a 3-2 record.
