Team Voice, the new team-wide voice chat feature for League of Legends, is now live on the PBE. Riot Games confirmed the news on Tuesday, November 3, bringing the feature back into testing after its previously planned launch was postponed.

Team Voice will let players talk to everyone on their team, including teammates they are matched with rather than those in a premade party. Currently, League's built-in voice chat only supports premade groups.

Why Was Team Voice Delayed?

Team Voice was originally scheduled to launch on October 7 with Patch 26.20. However, on September 22, Riot postponed the feature's release after extensive testing, removing it from the update without setting a new date.

At the time, the developer said it needed more time to meet its quality standards. With testing now underway on the PBE, Riot has established a new rollout timeline, initially limited to North America and Oceania.

Who Can Use Team Voice in League of Legends?

Access to voice communication will depend on player behavior. According to Riot, players will need to be at Honor level 3 or higher to speak through Team Voice. The requirement is part of the safety measures intended to restrict access for accounts with a history of misconduct.

The feature will be optional. In clarifications shared after the September announcement, Andrei “Meddler” van Roon, head of the League of Legends studio, also said that Team Voice will require push-to-talk. Voice activation will remain available for premade-party chat.

Riot says a wider rollout will depend on having moderation tools capable of handling reports and abusive behavior. The plan is to test the feature, gather player feedback, and make adjustments before introducing it to more servers.

Team Voice Will Feature Five Voice Skins

The new system will also include five voice skins, according to a Sheep Esports post about the announcement. These filters change how players' voices sound while keeping communication clear enough for teammates to understand their calls during matches.

Riot previously said the first voice skins would be free. Meddler also clarified that the initial filters would be generic rather than imitating the voices of League of Legends champions. The company has discussed the possibility of paid options in the future but has not announced any concrete plans.

Other planned improvements include better noise cancellation, faster connections, and improved stability, alongside moderation features linked to the Honor system.

When Will Team Voice Launch in League of Legends?

Team Voice is scheduled to launch on November 18, 2026, alongside League of Legends Patch 26.23. The initial release will be limited to the North America (NA) and Oceania (OCE) servers, following the current testing period on the PBE.

Riot Games has not announced a release date for other regions. The company plans to expand Team Voice gradually, using player feedback and the results of its initial rollout to determine when the feature is ready for additional servers.
