The day 4 of VALORANT Champions 2024 featured the Group D opening matches. The first game of the day had G2 Esports taking on Paper Rex.

Many expected the game to be a close affair but the game was anything but, with G2 Esports outclassing the Pacific powerhouse. Let’s see how the games went down.

G2 Esports 2-0 Paper Rex

G2 Esports’ Icebox started with the American side dominating the opposition’s defense, going 8-4 up. Paper Rex did start the second half well, but the G2 retakes helped them close out the game 13-8.

The second map was even more dominant as G2 Esports completely shut down Paper Rex’s offense, going 9-3 up and despite Paper Rex’s attempts to comeback, closed the map 13-9, sweeping their opponents.

Talking about the loss, Paper Rex coach Alecks said:

“Well, I think on Icebox, we just had a game plan and we went away from it. Because of that, it was a bit more difficult for us.

Firstly, G2 is really, really good. It's very rare that we play a team of their caliber. Sometimes, if we plan wrongly and we can't hit our shots because we are in the wrong positions, it gets really hard. Their mastery of utility, like one Gecko flash getting all of us, makes it troublesome.

On Lotus, we didn't play our composition well on attack. Our defense was okay. I think if we had started on defense, it might have been a different story. It's my fault. We should have started on defense.”

With the loss, Paper Rex now faces FUT Esports for an elimination game on 9th August.

In the second game, EDward Gaming 2-0’d FUT Esports, setting up G2 Esports vs EDward Games for Playoffs Qualification.

Is VALORANT Crossplay? PC, PS5, Xbox & Mobile Explained (2026)

VALORANT does not offer crossplay between PC and console. This means that PC players can only match and play against other PC players, and console players (PS5 and Xbox) players can only match and play against other console players. While there is no crossplay in VALORANT, the game does support cross progression, which means that your account, skins, and any other form of progress carry from one platform to the other (from PC to console, and vice versa).
