The day 3 of VALORANT Champions 2024 started with Talon Esports teasing an upset over Aspas’ Leviatan, unfortunately they could not complete the task.

The following game featured Team Vitality taking on Trace Esports, with the former coming in as the heavy favorites. While the esports pundits expected Trace Esports to be a much better team than Bilibili Gaming, who could not hold a candle to FNATIC yesterday, many predicted the game to go Sayf and Vitality’s way.

However, Trace not only finished what Talon could not, but completely destroyed the hopes of many to get the “100%” title for correct pickems.

Team Vitality 1-2 Trace Esports

Trace Esports came out of the gate swinging as they secured an early 6-1 lead on Ascent. Vitality, however, salvaged the half, winning four out of the final five rounds to close the half of 5-7.

Trace managed to secure 11 rounds early but struggled to close out the map, with their opponent’s offense forcing OT. Fortunately, they closed it in OT, going 1-0 up in the series.

Despite a competitive start to Sunset, Vitality completely destroyed the Chinese side, forcing a third map.

With the momentum pushing them forward, Vitality secured a strong 5-1 start, but the rest of the rounds had Trace written all over them. In the 14 rounds that followed, the China #3 seed won 12 rounds to win the final map 13-7. With the map win, they delivered the first real upset of VALORANT Champions 2024.

Trace Esports will now face Leviatán in the Playoffs qualification game. Team Vitality will take on Primmie and friends in an elimination game.

VALORANT does not offer crossplay between PC and console. This means that PC players can only match and play against other PC players, and console players (PS5 and Xbox) players can only match and play against other console players. While there is no crossplay in VALORANT, the game does support cross progression, which means that your account, skins, and any other form of progress carry from one platform to the other (from PC to console, and vice versa).
