Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen has been announced by Heroic’s CSGO as the newest temporary addition to their roster. The Danish entry fragger has been riding the inactive bench on Team Vitality since late June 2023, shortly after winning the BLAST Paris Major.

Not Done Yet

The 30-year-old rifler rose to prominence on Copenhagen Wolves in 2013. He then joined Team Dignitas, which birthed the core of “dupreeh”, Andreas Xyp9x” Højsleth, and Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz. At the time, they were led by now legendary In-Game Leader (IGL) Finn “karrigan” Andersen. Team Dignitas would be picked up by Team SoloMid (TSM) in 2015.

Soon after, TSM CSGO was themselves disbanded, and the core found themselves on Astralis, whose banner they competed under from 2016 to late 2021. It was with Astralis that “dupreeh” won four of his five majors, making him the highest earning player in CSGO to this date.

In 2022, “dupreeh”, alongside teammate Emil “magisk” Reif and coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen joined Team Vitality, where they won the 2023 BLAST Paris Major. Shortly after, “dupreeh” was benched for newcomer Shahar “flameZ” Shushan.

When addressing his joining to Heroic, the Danish rifler cited how he has been 'putting all [his] effort into the closed beta and early stage of CS2.' He went on express happiness at being able to come to Heroic's aid during this difficult moment.

Heroic without a Head

On the 4th of October, Heroic announced that they would be parting ways with Casper “cadiaN” Møller. Having spent four years together, “cadiaN” was widely considered the heart of the team, performing as the primary IGL and AWPer for the roster. Furthermore, for the majority of his time on Heroic, the latter was ranked consistently as one of the top teams in the world.

With his departure, questions swirled around whether Heroic could still perform optimally without him. Moreover, questions also brewed on who Heroic could bring in to replace “cadiaN”.

For this and several other reasons, the temporary addition of “dupreeh” to the roster does much to allay doubts surrounding the future of the Danish roster:

  1. Veteran Status: “dupreeh” brings much needed experience to the team, acting as a stabilizing roster for the relatively young roster.
  2. Champion Pedigree: Coming in as 5-time Major winner across two separate rosters, not only does it prove “dupreeh” is flexible and can function extremely well in different settings, but he also adds prestige to the roster and a great deal of in-game influence.
  3. Flexible Role Player: “dupreeh” made his mark on Counter-Strike with his entry fragging prowess in his younger years. However, since then, he has also played as dedicated lurker and even picked up the AWP in 2021. He is known as a very stable player, and should slot well into the Heroic roster.
  4. Crossing Picket Fences: Since Astralis' rise in 2018-2020, Heroic was widely considered the second best Danish roster behind them. This signing would go some ways towards reuniting Danish fans under a singular banner once more.

A New Era for Heroic

Entering into CS2, Heroic is not alone in the shifting winds of change. Plenty of rosters have experienced upheaval and roster changes as they attempt to steady themselves in the new game. “dupreeh’s” first game with Heroic will be at the Roobet Cup on the 25th of October, facing off against Aurora.

Heroic’s roster as it stands, includes the following players:
