Following a bout between the two undefeated LCS titans this Sunday (August 4th), Cloud9 sees their perfect series record fall to an impressive Team Liquid.

TL, meanwhile, remain undefeated in series so far this LCS Summer Season, and look to keep it that way.

Cloud9 and Team Liquid go the distance

Despite C9 taking the first game of the series in a close, back-and-forth game, the team was ultimately left without answers for the remainder of the series.

Cloud9's remarkable early game control so far this season was entirely nullified by a Team Liquid that dominated games 2 and 3.

Sean "Yeon" Sung, in particular, performed at a very high level, as he has done all season long. Following his suppressive performances on Ezreal against C9, the TL AD carry was named player of the week in the LCS.

Result: Team Liquid 2-1 Cloud9

LCS Championship first round bye on the line

Cloud9 will close out the LCS Summer Season against current third place team Flyquest on Sunday (August 11th). Both teams are holding onto a record of 5 wins and 1 loss, meaning the match might just be a battle for 2nd place in the end.

It is worth remembering that the two teams that finish first and second place in the LCS Summer Season will receive a first-round-bye going into the LCS Championship.

If Team Liquid manage beat NRG on Saturday (August 10th) to finish the season undefeated, then C9's match against FLY will decide which team gets a week's extra rest, and a smoother path, in the upcoming LCS Championship.

For now, Team Liquid remains alone at the top of the standings following their impressive showing against a tough Cloud9 team.
