Introduced by Riot Games in Patch 13.08, Map Rating is the second component to the new competitive hub overhaul in VALORANT.

Designed as an in-game measurement and tracker of your individual performance per-map, it informs just how good you really are on your favourite maps — and what you can look to improve.

What is Map Rating in VALORANT?

A part of the ongoing system overhaul, Patch 13.08 follows up on Patch 13.06 with the second component — Map Rating.

The former patch had introduced us to the new Agent Mastery system along with a revised scoreboard system (replacing Average Combat Score with Performance Score), and performance summary post-match.

VALORANT Map Rating Explained: How It Works and How to Improve Your Grade

Map Rating now looks to add to that collective experience by rating your proficiency on a given map with 2 evaluations: rating and grade.

Rating functions on a 0-500 scale, giving you a numerical appraisal of your proficiency on the map.

Perform well enough consistently and that value, and your grade rises. Grade ranges from C to S and includes divisions within each grade (C+, C++, etc). The S grade has no division.

Your Map Rating will be visible, like your stats and other features in Agent Select, End of Game, and Career. Only you can see your Map Rating.

How is Map Rating Calculated?

Your Map Rating score is predicated on 4 statistics: overall win rate, Attacker win rate, Defender win rate, and Performance Score.

Moreover, fresher performances will have greater weightage on your overall map rating compared to old matches — so, no holding on to past glory.

Improve any of the 4 statistics, and your Map Rating will rise.
