Every Dota 2 Major Champions (2015-2026)

In Dota 2, Majors serve as the main benchmark for measuring a team's strength, often shaping the competitive meta and establishing the favorites for The International.

With that in mind, instead of listing all majors in Dota 2 history, we will focus on the main events that had a closer relation to Valve.

Our article will span the three most prominent tournament organizers in professional Dota 2 (ESL, BLAST, and PGL), with the addition of majors supported by Valve during the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC).

Dota 2 Main Major Champions (2015-2026)

Majors do not work the same way in Dota 2 as they do in Counter-Strike. First, Valve started with partnerships with tournament organizers. After that, they tried to establish an official Dota 2 Pro Circuit, which proved to be a bigger task than it was worth, and eventually went back to partnerships to host major Dota 2 tournaments.

Most Recent Major Champion

The most recent Dota 2 Major champion is Team Yandex, who won the BLAST Slam VII in June 2026. BLAST Slam VII is a tournament that does not take part in the ESL Pro Tour (EPT) and was the last major tournament before the Esports World Cup 2026 (EWC 2026).

If we take just the EPT into consideration, the last major before EWC 2026 was DreamLeague Season 29, which was won by PARIVISION in a battle against Aurora Gaming in the Grand Final.

Below is the list of the main Major champions in tournaments either organized or supported by Valve.

Team Yandex defeated LGD Gaming 3-1 in the Grand Final, but this did not reduce the huge accomplishment of the new LGD roster, coming out from the loss of their former organization and earning not only a Top 2 finish but also pushing Brazil into the list of direct invites for the Esports Nations Cup 2026.

♦ 2026 DreamLeague Season 29 — PARIVISION

PARIVISION defeated Aurora Gaming 3-2 and broke a long-lasting pattern of crisis that started after placing third at The International 2025 and resulted in a change of coach and a small roster change.

♦ 2026 PGL Wallachia Season 8 — BetBoom Team

BetBoom Team dominated PGL Wallachia Season 8, went through the Upper Bracket, and won the Grand Final against Aurora Gaming, rekindling the fire in Eastern European Dota 2.

♦ 2026 ESL One Birmingham 2026 — Tundra Esports

Tundra Esports won the Grand Final against Team Yandex 3-1 and established themselves as one of the strongest contenders for TI 2026 and EWC 2026. Team Yandex also strengthened its image as the most talented rising star in the Dota 2 professional circuit.

♦ 2026 PGL Wallachia Season 7 — Team Yandex

Team Yandex were on their way to the top, and PGL Wallachia Season 7 provided them with the opportunity to defeat Team Liquid not once but twice: first by 2-0 in the Upper Bracket of the Playoffs and again by 3-2 in the Grand Final.

♦ 2026 DreamLeague Season 28 — Tundra Esports

Tundra Esports won their first major in 2026 after defeating Aurora Gaming in the DreamLeague Season 28 Grand Final 3-1. Aurora had a stand-in but still managed to reach the Grand Final, showing that the roster was pretty consistent even without their midlaner.

♦ 2026 BLAST SLAM VI — Team Liquid

Team Liquid was struggling to find balance since Aydin "Insania" Sarkohi retired, and after losing the ESL One Qualifiers, Liquid finally bounced back by winning the Grand Final against Natus Vincere 3-1.

♦ 2025 DreamLeague Season 27 — Team Yandex

This was the first step in a new era for Team Yandex. Alimzhan "watson" Islambekov joined Yandex in late October, and a little over a month later, they won their first major by defeating Team Spirit 3-1 in the Grand Final.

♦ 2025 BLAST Slam V — Tundra Esports

This was the last of Tundra's four back-to-back BLAST Slam victories. Despite losing 3-0 and confirming Tundra's superiority, Yandex's result was very positive after a recent roster change.

♦ 2025 PGL Wallachia Season 6 — MOUZ

At the end of 2025, MOUZ was alongside Team Yandex on the list of rising stars of the Dota 2 professional circuit. They won PGL Wallachia Season 6 after beating Team Spirit 3-2 in the Grand Final.

♦ 2025 BLAST Slam IV — Tundra Esports

This was the third BLAST Slam title that Tundra conquered in a row. This time, they won the Grand Final 3-2 after beating Team Falcons in a moment of crisis for the TI champions.

♦ 2025 Esports World Cup 2025 — Team Spirit

Ever since the Riyadh Masters started, it has become a very good way to measure teams' performance right before The International. Team Spirit won the Grand Final 3-0 against Team Falcons, but surprisingly, it would be the Falcons that won The International 2025.

♦ 2025 PGL Wallachia Season 5 — BetBoom Team

BetBoom Team won the Grand Final against the Gaimin Gladiators 3-1 at a moment when the Gladiators were most likely already facing internal problems. The latter would eventually disband their roster and end their participation in professional Dota 2 right before The International 2025.

♦ 2025 DreamLeague Season 26 — PARIVISION

This was one of the tournaments that defined 2025 as the year of Eastern European Dota 2. The regional matchup in the Grand Final saw PARIVISION completely dominate BetBoom Team to win 3-0.

♦ 2025 BLAST Slam III — Tundra Esports

Tundra Esports moved to defend their BLAST Slam title, succesfully beating Team Falcons 3-1 and adding another victory to their already solid history.

♦ 2025 PGL Wallachia Season 4 — Team Liquid

Team Liquid managed to successfully defend their PGL Wallachia championship after beating PARIVISION 3-2. Liquid and Tundra were dominating tournaments outside of the ESL Pro Tour.

♦ 2025 ESL One Raleigh 2025 — PARIVISION

PARIVISION added another mark to the year of Eastern European Dota 2 after defeating Team Spirit 3-1. They claimed the only ESL One of 2025, adding to their ESL Pro Tour Ranking and getting closer to an EWC spot.

♦ 2025 PGL Wallachia Season 3 — Team Liquid

Team Liquid broke the pattern and defeated Tundra Esports 3-1 to claim the PGL Wallachia Season 3 championship, taking the title from the hands of Heroic.

♦ 2025 DreamLeague Season 25 — Team Spirit

Apart from Esports World Cup 2025, this was Team Spirit's last victory in a major tournament. They defeated Tundra Esports 3-2 and claimed enough EPT Points to earn the luxury of skipping the next DreamLeague.

♦ 2025 BLAST Slam II — Tundra Esports

This was the first in a series of back-to-back BLAST Slam victories for Tundra Esports. They won the Grand Final against the Gaimin Gladiators 3-0 and showed the world the power of their new roster going into a new season.

♦ 2024 ESL One Bangkok 2024 — PARIVISION

This was the big reveal of the potential for the new PARIVISION roster that was announced after The International 2024 in October. They won the Grand Final against the TI champions by 3-1 mere months after they lifted the Aegis of Champions.

♦ 2024 BLAST Slam I — BetBoom Team

BetBoom Team won the first BLAST Slam after defeating Tundra Esports 3-1. This was the tournament's debut, and the Grand Final between both top-seeded teams from the Group Stage demonstrated that the organization still needed adjustments.

♦ 2024 DreamLeague Season 24 — Team Falcons

Despite their Lower Bracket run, Team Falcons managed to win DreamLeague Season 24 after beating BetBoom Team 3-1. They protect their status as one of the strongest teams in professional Dota 2 despite failing to conquer The International.

♦ 2024 Riyadh Masters 2024 — Gaimin Gladiators

The Gaimin Gladiators were the star team of 2023. After months of crisis, they seemed to get back on track right before The International and won the Riyadh Masters after beating Team Liquid 3-0.

♦ 2024 DreamLeague Season 23 — Team Falcons

Team Falcons took the Gaimin Gladiators' spot as the strongest team in the Dota 2 Pro Circuit in 2024, and the 3-0 victory against the Gladiators in the Grand Final was another point in a streak that put them among the favorites for TI 2024.

♦ 2024 PGL Wallachia Season 1 — Team Spirit

Team Spirit won the first PGL Wallachia after turning the tables on Xtreme Gaming and winning the Grand Final 3-2. This was a rather rare occurrence in a year where Team Falcons dominated most tournaments.

♦ 2024 ESL One Birmingham 2024 — Team Falcons

Team Falcons seemed to be one step ahead of every other Dota 2 team during the first half of 2024, and their second consecutive 3-0 victory against BetBoom Team in an ESL One Grand Final was a convincing way to display their strength.

♦ 2024 DreamLeague Season 22 — Team Falcons

Team Falcons were the team to beat in the ESL Pro Tour, and their biggest rivals were BetBoom Team. Despite reaching the Grand Final, BetBoom was not strong enough to stand in the Falcons' way and lost 3-0.

♦ 2023 ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 — Azure Ray

Azure Ray was the embryo of what would eventually become 2025's Xtreme Gaming, but before that, they won ESL One Kuala Lumpur against the Gaimin Gladiators 3-2 in the year that the Gladiators won almost everything.

♦ 2023 DreamLeague Season 21 — Team Spirit

Team Spirit were ready for what would be their second International victory, but not before completely dominating Shopify Rebellion and winning the Grand Final 3-0.

♦ 2023 Riyadh Masters 2023 — Team Spirit

The Riyadh Masters unknowingly surpassed The International in 2023 after Valve ended the Battle Pass. Team Spirit got their second lucky strike on the highest prize pool in tournament history after beating Team Liquid 3-1 in the Grand Final.

♦ 2023 The Bali Major 2023 — Gaimin Gladiators

2023 was the last year of the Dota Pro Circuit being organized by Valve, and the Gaimin Gladiators won every Valve Major that year. The Bali Major ended with a 3-1 score and reinforced the meme that Team Liquid was the "new Cloud9" because they only placed second for most of the year.

The Gaimin Gladiators dominated most of 2023, and as expected, the newly announced ESL Pro Tour was part of it. They won DreamLeague Season 20 after beating BetBoom Team 3-2 in the Grand Final.

♦ 2023 ESL One Berlin Major 2023 — Gaimin Gladiators

At this point in the year, everyone already had expectations for both the Grand Finalists and the result of any major. As expected, the Gaimin Gladiators won again, beating Team Liquid once more, this time by 3-1.

♦ 2023 DreamLeague Season 19 — Gaimin Gladiators

This would be the second time the Gaimin Gladiators faced Team Liquid in the Grand Final of a major in 2023. They won again, this time by 3-2 after a very intense back-and-forth series.

♦ 2023 The Lima Major 2023 — Gaimin Gladiators

The Gaimin Gladiators were about to start the best year in the organization's history and establish a pattern after winning the Grand Final against Team Liquid. The final score was a perfect 3-0.

♦ 2022 ESL One Malaysia 2022 — OG

This was a step in OG's journey to get back to Tier 1 professional Dota 2. Despite ultimately not working out, their 3-0 victory against Team Aster was part of the story that introduced Bozhidar "bzm" Bogdanov and Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf to the world.

♦ 2022 PGL Arlington Major 2022 — Team Spirit

Team Spirit were the reigning TI champions, and the Arlington Major confirmed their strength after they defeated the always fearsome PSG.LGD 3-1 in the Grand Final.

♦ 2022 Riyadh Masters 2022 — PSG.LGD

PSG.LGD was China's biggest hope of winning another International after years had passed since Wings Gaming won TI 2016. They dominated the Riyadh Masters in 2022 and won the Grand Final against Team Spirit 2-0.

♦ 2022 ESL One Stockholm Major 2022 — OG

The Stockholm Major 2022 was a very emotional tournament for OG. They won the Grand Final against Team SoloMid 3-1 after welcoming Sébastien "Ceb" Debs back to their roster as a hard support and an experienced player to guide their new lineup in the right direction.

♦ 2021 ESL One Fall 2021 — Tundra Esports

Tundra Esports won the tournament's Grand Final against PSG.LGD 3-2 with most of their TI-winning roster still active. Martin "Saksa" Sazdov had taken a break to care for his health, and Jingjun "Sneyking" Wu stepped in as the soft support.

♦ 2021 ESL One Summer 2021 — T1

T1 won the Grand Final against Virtus.pro 3-2, and this was an important moment that put the talents of Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon and Matthew "Whitemon" Filemon on display for the world to see.

♦ 2021 WePlay AniMajor — PSG.LGD

PSG.LGD was in a very good moment, and their momentum became even more noticeable after they beat Evil Geniuses 3-0 in the Grand Final. This followed an Upper Bracket run in which they defeated several strong teams along the way.

♦ 2021 ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021 — Invictus Gaming

Invictus Gaming made an impressive run through the Lower Bracket and turned around the Grand Final against Evil Geniuses to win 3-2 after starting the match down 0-2.

♦ 2020 ESL One Germany 2020 — Team Liquid

The core of what would eventually become the second TI-winning Team Liquid won the tournament by making a full Lower Bracket run through the playoffs and defeating Natus Vincere 3-1 in the Grand Final.

♦ 2020 DreamLeague Season 13 — Team Secret

This was the last offline Dota 2 Major to take place before the pandemic, and Team Secret overcame Evil Geniuses 3-2 to showcase the strength of one of their best rosters ever.

♦ 2019 MDL Chengdu Major — TNC Predator

Every now and then, Southeast Asia manages to produce a roster that takes Dota 2 by surprise, and 2019 TNC Predator was one of those occasions. They won the Grand Final after defeating Vici Gaming 3-1.

♦ 2019 EPICENTER Major 2019 — Vici Gaming

Before losing the Chengdu Major to TNC, Vici Gaming went all in on EPICENTER 2019 and won the Grand Final 3-2, defeating the same Team Liquid roster that won The International 2017 apart from the midlaner.

♦ 2019 MDL Disneyland® Paris Major — Team Secret

Team Secret defeated TI champion Team Liquid 3-1 with one of their best iterations, which still had Michał "Nisha" Jankowski playing as carry before he eventually joined that same Team Liquid and became a TI champion as a midlaner.

♦ 2019 DreamLeague Season 11 — Vici Gaming

Vici Gaming was one of China's strongest teams in 2019, and that became clear when they defeated Virtus.pro 3-2 in the Grand Final while Volodymyr "No[o]ne-" Minenko was playing at an outstanding level for VP.

♦ 2018 The Kuala Lumpur Major — Virtus.pro

Roman "RAMZES666" Kushnarev and Virtus.pro achieved many victories during this period, and the Grand Final of the Kuala Lumpur Major was one of those memorable triumphs, ending in a 3-2 victory against Team Secret, another dominant team at the time, as you can see on the list.

♦ 2018 China Dota2 Supermajor — Team Liquid

Virtus.pro was constantly reaching Grand Finals in 2018, but this time Team Liquid were the better team and won the China Dota2 Supermajor with a 3-2 victory in the deciding game.

♦ 2018 ESL One Birmingham 2018 — Virtus.pro

VP was doing great and crushed ppd's dreams on the way to the top by dominating the Grand Final and winning with a perfect 3-0 score against Optic Gaming, completing the tournament without dropping a single map.

♦ 2018 MDL Changsha Major — PSG.LGD

PSG.LGD won at home after beating a younger Jingjun "Sneyking" Wu on the VGJ.Storm roster 3-0 in the Grand Final. This established LGD as the favorite Chinese roster heading into The International, which was confirmed by their run all the way to the Grand Final.

♦ 2018 EPICENTER XL — PSG.LGD

LGD won two majors in a row and put together an impressive campaign in May 2018. Their first Grand Final victory came with a 3-1 win over the same Team Liquid that were the reigning The International champions.

♦ 2018 Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018 — Mineski

Going back to the topic of surprising Southeast Asian rosters, Mineski defeated LGD Gaming 3-2 in the Grand Final after assembling players such as Chai "Mushi" Yee Fung and Daryl "iceiceice" Koh.

♦ 2018 The Bucharest Major — Virtus.pro

Virtus.pro won the Bucharest Major Grand Final after completely dominating VGJ.Thunder — who should not be mistaken for VGJ.Storm — by a 3-0 score.

♦ 2018 ESL One Katowice 2018 — Virtus.pro

Virtus.pro was in great form in 2018, and similarly to PSG.LGD, they won two major tournaments in a row. This run started with ESL One Katowice, where they defeated Vici Gaming 3-1 in the Grand Final.

Team Secret was experimenting with their roster and defeated TI champion Team Liquid 3-0, with Marcus "Ace" Christensen playing as a carry instead of his now more familiar offlane role.

♦ 2017 ESL One Hamburg 2017 — Virtus.pro

Virtus.pro conquered ESL One Hamburg 2017 after beating Team Secret 2-0 in a very unusual score for a Grand Final and started what would become a great run of major victories in the following season.

This was the last title in OG's three-Major winning streak for the new Tier 1 team born from the ashes of Johan "N0tail" Sundstein's dreams after leaving Fnatic. OG defeated Virtus.pro 3-2 in the Grand Final.

♦ 2016 The Boston Major 2016 — OG

OG took the Dota 2 professional scene by surprise with their first Major victory, but despite already being champions, they managed to win again in Boston after defeating the dark horse Ad Finem 3-1 in the Grand Final.

♦ 2016 The Manila Major 2016 — OG

Manila was the beginning of OG's first great Major streak, and that success returned when they migrated to Southeast Asia. There, they won the Grand Final against Team Liquid 3-1.

♦ 2016 The Shanghai Major 2016 — Team Secret

Valve was trying to push Chinese teams back to the top of professional Dota 2, and part of this initiative was bringing Majors to China. Despite playing on their home turf, the Chinese teams fell before the Grand Final, where Team Secret defeated Team Liquid 3-1.

This was the first tournament in Valve's attempt to steer the Dota 2 professional circuit in a direction that was more convenient for the company. OG came seemingly out of nowhere and won the Grand Final against Team Secret 3-1.
