VALORANT Champions 2024 Finals Weekend: Teams and Fixtures

VALORANT Champions 2024 kicked off almost three weeks ago with 16 teams around the world. After the conclusion of the group stage, eight teams were eliminated. The remaining 8 teams took on each other in the Playoffs bracket last week, giving us the top four teams that will play at the INSPIRE Arena.

These teams are:

These four teams are still in the contention for their first Champions title. While EDward Gaming and Leviatan fight for a Grand Finals spot, Sentinels and Team Heretics fight to stay in contention.

The four fixtures for the the Finals Weekend will be as follows:

  • 23rd August 04:00 PM KST Upper Bracket Finals: EDward Gaming vs.Leviatan
  • 23rd August 07:00 PM KST Lower Bracket Semifinals: Team Heretics vs. Sentinels
  • 24th August 04:00 PM KST Lower Bracket Finals
  • 25th August 04:00 PM KST Grand Finals

Upper Bracket Finals Preview: EDward Gaming vs. Leviatan

The Upper Bracket Finals series featuring EDward Gaming and Leviatan will kick off the VALORANT Champions 2024 Finals Weekend.

EDward Gaming, the China #1, have surprised everyone by their impressive run at the tournament. They started their run making out of a relatively tough group after defeating their International rivals in Paper Rex.

They definitely had an easier opening game as they took down Trace Esports, but they faced Sentinels in the Upper Semifinals.

Sentinels definitely had an upper hand coming into the game, they were the favorites. But as the game unfolded, Sentinels despite starting strong could not catch up with EDward Gaming.

Leviatan, the favorite coming into the tournament, were upsetted earlier in the tournament by a Chinese team in Trace Esports. Moving on from the upset, Leviatan has proven to be a strong contender. In the playoffs, they took down G2 Esports and then Team Heretics, sweeping them in the two Playoff series.

While many consider the game to be the battle of the superstars in ZmjjKk and Aspas, it’ll be the battle of the supporting cast. The team that supports their star better will come out on the top.

Despite EDward Gaming’s recent rise, Leviatan still looks more of a heavy hitter, especially with their dominant win over G2 Esports and Team Heretics, making LEV the favorites to win the series and qualify for the Grand Finals.

Lower Bracket Semifinals Preview: Team Heretics vs. Sentinels

The first decider game of the weekend will feature Team Heretics and Sentinels for their tournament lives.

Despite only barely qualifying for the tournament and starting with a sweep, Sentinels came back strong to win over Gen.G to qualify for the Playoffs.

They also took down DRX in the Playoffs opening game, but were upsetted by EDward Gaming in the Upper Bracket Semifinals. They came back stronger, as they took down Fnatic 2-1 to secure a game against Team Heretics.

Their opponents, the EU superteam did also come out of the same group of death as the first seed. They edged out FunPlus Phoenix in their opening game and knocked out Gen.G to the lower bracket. They defeated Fnatic, but lost to Leviatan and eliminated DRX to secure the game against Sentinels.

The two teams are both very strong and have stars with the potential to carry games and supports to help them shine. With players from both teams coming in with top form in recent games, the series can go either way. The series' outcome come down to the teams' performance on the day.

The loser of the series will be eliminated from VALORANT Champions while the winner will face the loser of first series for the second Grand Finals spot.

The Finals weekend action kicksoff 23rd August 04:00 PM KST. Catch the action live on Twitch and YouTube. You can also watch the tournament on VALORANT Esports Website. You can also follow the games on Strafe.
