The first set of elimination games of VALORANT Champions 2024 Playoffs concluded today. After two one-sided series, Trace Esports and G2 Esports concluded their Seoul journey.

DRX sweeps Trace Esports

The first elimination game of the playoffs featured DRX taking on Trace Esports.

Trace Esports had a really strong showing in the group stage, but they were swept against EDG. Similarly, DRX, the first seed of Group A, were swept by Sentinels.

Both teams play a similar brand of VALORANT, but in the highly anticipated match-up, Trace were completely outclassed. DRX won the bout 2-0, losing only eight rounds in the process.

Talking about their the series takeaways, LuoK1ng said:

“As a whole team, I feel like our biggest takeaway is the resilience we showed when facing strong teams. We've made some mistakes before in the CN league, and although we made fewer of those errors here on the international stage, it's still something we've learned from. This is one of our biggest takeaways”

Talking about the team’s performance, Trace’s coach said:

“I was quite satisfied with our performance during the group stage. However, in the knockout stage, it seemed that after we advanced, the players weren’t able to maintain the same high level of form as teams that had been consistently playing. We had a slow start in the playoffs, which affected our performance. We didn’t play as tightly as we did during the group stage.”

Despite the strong performances, the loss concludes the Trace Esports’ journey.

DRX continue their VALORANT Champions journey and await the loser of the Leviatan - Team Heretics game.

FNATIC outclasses G2 Esports

After losing their opening games to their regional peers in Team Heretics and Leviatán, FNATIC and G2 Esports faced each other in an elimination game.

In the best-of-three series, FNATIC completely outclassed G2 Esports winning the first map 13-3 and edging out their opponents on the second with a 13-11 scoreline.

Talking about the team’s journey, JoshRT said:

“I think it’s been an incredible journey. The guys grew so much over the course of the season. We were just in a room being thankful for the year and how much everyone improved. Jake showed great leadership throughout the year.

I asked a lot from Trent to step up on his initiator role, being proactive with his communication and coordination. Jonah also did well in solidifying himself in a role that might be a bit boring but crucial.

I trust him a lot in clutch situations and making the right decisions. Nate made a significant change to the Sentinel role and became one of the best Sentinels in the process.

Jacob stepped in mid-season and saved us, becoming one of the best duelists in the world. Although we don’t feel it now, having just come off a loss, we'll look back on this journey and be thankful.”

G2 Esports’ ascended journey has seen amazing highs, unfortunately, their journey has concluded.

FNATIC will be facing the loser of Sentinels-EDward Gaming. Tomorrow, VALORANT Champions 2024 action features Upper Bracket Semifinals.

Is VALORANT Crossplay? PC, PS5, Xbox & Mobile Explained (2026)

VALORANT does not offer crossplay between PC and console. This means that PC players can only match and play against other PC players, and console players (PS5 and Xbox) players can only match and play against other console players. While there is no crossplay in VALORANT, the game does support cross progression, which means that your account, skins, and any other form of progress carry from one platform to the other (from PC to console, and vice versa).
