An interesting development for the upcoming DreamLeague Season 26 has occurred.  Tundra Esports has decided to forgo the tournament and will be replaced by Navi Junior instead. Tundra beat Navi in the finals of the closed qualifiers to secure their spot.

This breaks the DreamLeague streak for Tundra, who have attended the last five tournaments, with a second place finish in their last appearance.

Since the start of the year, Tundra Esports has played in seven different events in less than five months. While some of these tournaments were online, most required the team to travel to different countries to compete.

It's no wonder that after five grueling months, the team decided to take a break. Once Blast Slam III ends, Tundra may not join a tournament until July, when the Esports World Cup begins.

To qualify to Riyadh, teams need to either accrue enough enough EPT points to qualify directly, or win the closed Qualifiers. The top eight teams in EPT will move on and Tundra is currently sixth on the list.

While this doesn't guarantee they will go, it's pretty damn close. Tundra requires 7083 points and already has 7050. For Tundra to miss their slot, they will need these three teams to do well. Nigma Galaxy, Shopify Rebellion, and Avulus. While possible, it's very unlikely and it makes sense for Tundra to take a break and prepare instead.

Time will tell if this is a wise decision. I applaud teams for taking a break when they can and taking the time to recuperate. Dota 2 is a grueling game and there is more to life than nonstop competition. Here's hoping Tundra's decision doesn't come back to bite them in the rear. We'll certainly be keeping our eyes glued to the upcoming DreamLeague Season 26.
