The MEO Arena in Lisbon, Portugal witnessed the best Counter-Strike Grand Finals of 2025 yet. In the final series of BLAST Open Spring Lisbon 2025, MOUZ challenged the current overlords, Team Vitality, and pushed them to the limits.

A series that stretched to all five maps saw the youngsters go toe-to-toe with the veterans. But when push came to shove, the French side showcased why they have now won back-to-back-to-back tournaments.

Team Vitality take on MOUZ for the title!

A Historic Start

Coming into the series, MOUZ were the underdogs. Team Vitality were poised to win the series from the beginning but no one expected the series to start the way it did. Vitality dismantled MOUZ, and there was no competition. A clean 13-0, not a single round dropped.

The win not only established the favorites but it raised a question, can any team stand up to a team with ZywOo and ropz?

A Team With a Champion's Mentality

Mirage started rough, nades missed, shots missed, but MOUZ held firm, winning the first round of the series on map 2. They converted that single round into a solid T-side 9-3 half and then used the momentum to secure a map-point before Vitality could reach double-digits.

But if we know anything about a good team, it's that they always come back, and so did Vitality. On the verge of OT though, MOUZ closed the map, won 13-11, coming back from a 0-13 loss and denying OT to equalize the series 1-1. Truly a team with a Champions’ mentality!

Brollan is a Tier 1 IGL

Starting as CT, MOUZ held off Team Vitality to a humble 7 rounds. A big part of the minor victory was Jimpphat, who denied crucial rounds that helped the team down the road.

Brollan’s calling on Dust II t-side was immaculate, as he took on apEX and came out on top, out calling and out maneuvering the veteran to win the map and go 2-1 up in the series.

As a young IGL, he went toe-to-toe with the current best IGL in the scene and won through his calling. On this map, Brollan established himself as a complete tier-1 IGL!

V for Victory, V for Vitality!

Over the last two maps, Team Vitality established their dominance. Albeit they weren’t 13-0s, the French side were in complete control. They dismantled the MOUZ' executions on Nuke and dissected the defense to convert a 9-3 half to a 13-7 victory, equalizing the series 2-2.

Train started with a bloody brawl and Team Vitality’s CT-side came out on top. They won five straight rounds on defense after losing the pistol, closing the map 13-7. Despite getting challenged and pushed to their limits, Team Vitality came out on top.

With the BLAST Open Spring Lisbon 2025 title, they have won three trophies back-to-back-to-back. Out of the five total trophies of the year, the French side has won three, with one being at the prestigious IEM Katowice.

Biggest Takeaways of BLAST Open Spring  Lisbon 2025

Is Team Vitality Overpowered?

During the tenure of their insane run that helped them secure three trophies, Vitality has not dropped a single series. They are now on a 16-match win streak.

Since ropz joining, they have lost a single series to Eternal Fire in their first tournament and only dropped 8 maps in 19 matches. If they continue to play on the level they have been showing so far, teams have to bring their A game to even challenge Team Vitality.

MOUZ is the 2nd Best Team

After the entire community, including us, clowned on them for dropping one of the greatest IGL prospects, siuhy, in favor of Brollan, MOUZ have utterly shattered our expectations and proved everyone wrong. After an early BLAST Bounty fumble, they won PGL Cluj-Napoca and placed second at EPL and the BLAST Open Spring, improving with each passing tournament.

In the series today, despite starting with a 0-13 loss, they not only avoided a sweep, but looked like a team that could take down Team Vitality. And unlike Team Spirit, it was a team effort with everyone playing their part. That means, the performance can and should be replicated again and again and again, establishing MOUZ as the 2nd best team of 2025.

Eternal Fire - A Contender?

Another surprise of the tournament was Eternal fire, who have made another semifinals and are making consistent deep runs in tournaments now. Alongside The MongolZ (who did fumble their chance at Lisbon), they are stepping up to be a top contender, a team that truly deserve to compete at the highest level.

If these teams keep performing at this level, they can replace the likes of G2 Esports, Natus Vincere and FaZe Clan as the mainstays of S-tier Counter-Strike. The true test for the two teams will be the upcoming PGL Bucharest that will not feature any of Team Vitality, MOUZ, or Team Spirit. If either Eternal Fire or The MongolZ can win the tournament, they will establish themselves as top-tier contenders.
