Team Liquid Alienware Reclaim the LCS Throne With 2026 Summer Split Title
One year later, Team Liquid Alienware is back on top of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) after defeating LYON 3-1 in the 2026 Summer Split Grand Final. The victory also secures Team Liquid the first seed from the region at the 2026 World Championship.
Team Liquid Returns to the Top
Team Liquid's last title came when the LCS was still the League of Legends Championship of the Americas (LTA).
One year ago, during Split 1, Team Liquid defeated 100 Thieves to secure a spot at the inaugural First Stand, but their international performance fell short of expectations.
They returned to the international stage the following year at the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational, where they were eliminated by T1 in the Play-In Stage while competing for the sole spot in the main event.
A few months later, Team Liquid climbed back to the top and finally secured their first regional title of the season. In the 2026 Summer Split Grand Final, they showed the results of their hard work with a convincing 3-1 victory over LYON, one of the region's top contenders.
The jungler Brandon Joel “Josedeodo” Villegas was the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the series.
For top laner Park “Morgan” Ru-han, this marks his first regional title in his debut year competing in the LCS.
For both Lim “Quid” Hyeon-seung and Brandon Joel “Josedeodo” Villegas, the victory adds an LCS title to their careers, following their previous LTA triumphs when North and South America competed under the same league.
The Road to Worlds Begins
With this victory, Team Liquid Alienware will enter the 2026 LoL World Championship as the region’s first seed, while LYON will take the second seed.
Cloud9, the third seed, will have to fight through the Play-In Stage for a spot in the main event.
The biggest tournament of the year is heading to several cities across the United States, giving the LCS teams the chance to compete on the international stage in front of their home crowd.
This home advantage could make the tournament an even more exciting experience for the region's representatives.
