Team Falcons were one of the most dominant teams of last season. Although they failed to secure two prestigious trophies, the Riyadh Masters and The International 2024, they still finished among the top five in both tournaments.

However, after TI 13, some teams have begun to figure them out. Despite this, the Falcons have been putting on top-notch performances. At DreamLeague Season 24, even without their coach, Team Falcons have only dropped one series so far in the second group stage. They recently secured a clean victory against the TI 13 champions, Team Liquid. They followed up with another convincing win against Tundra Esports.

Sneyking on why the series went the distance

In the opening match, Tundra had a solid draft. However, Team Falcons quickly figured out their opponents' strategy and decisively stomped them, claiming a dominant victory.

Tundra struck back hard in the following match. They won their lanes and played a fast-paced game but made a few key mistakes while trying to push the high ground. As a result, the Falcons held their defence for quite some time. Nevertheless, Tundra eventually closed out the game at 51-minutes, securing the Aegis to seal the win.

In the deciding game, Tundra opted for a risky, greedy draft, featuring a support Medusa. Falcons, on the other hand, focused their draft on securing objectives. As the game progressed, Tundra—despite having a well-farmed safelane Morphling—was overrun by the Falcons. After the series, Team Falcons' in-game leader, Jingjun "Sneyking" Wu, discussed why matches between these two teams often go the distance.

" I think we both know each other quite well and I think it just comes down very thing margins and down to the wire for every win or loss. So, I think it's good for the viewers. Every game is the full series."

Sneyking on support Pugna

Surprisingly, Pugna was featured in every single match of this series, and the team that picked him came out on top each time. Pugna was also among one of the most popular supports at DreamLeague Season 24.

In fact, Team Falcons had not lost a single match in the tournament when they picked him. In his post-game interview, Sneyking mentioned how the hero is a reliable support in the current meta and why teams starting picking him.

" I think it's just people start copying strategies very quickly. We started playing it in BetBoom Dacha because I realized the buffs on the hero were quite good. People these days are very quick to adjust and adapt; Once one or two teams start playing it, everyone else will hop on as well."

Sneyking on how they managed the time for two tournaments

DreamLeague Season 24 began the day after BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024, where Team Falcons were crowned champions. Falcons had less than twenty hours to catch a break between these tournaments. Sneyking revealed what Team Falcons did during this short break in his post-game interview.

"That vacation of twelve hours was not much to work with. So, we just transferred hotel and immediately set up for a new boot camp for DreamLeague. 'Cause there wouldn't be enough time for travel otherwise."

The same however cannot be said for Tundra's coach, Kurtis "Aui_2000" Ling. After BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024, Aui is currently taking a short vacation in Japan.

In his interview, Sneyking also mentioned how each player on Team Falcons has stepped up to fulfil their roles while their coach is away.

" I think we just had to really focus on ourselves and realize that since Aui is not here, a lot of the replay watching, individual responsibilities that coach used to help us with – we need to do it on ourselves and on our own. We just need to be very focus on our own personal responsibilities."

The action at DreamLeague Season 24 has started to heat up. Team Falcons have four series remaining in the tournament's second group stage. Their upcoming match is against Xtreme Gaming. Stay tuned to Strafe for coverage of all the latest action as the tournament unfolds.
