Sentinels Sign World Champion brawk to Complete VALORANT Roster for 2027
Sentinels has officially signed Brock “brawk” Somerhalder for the 2027 VALORANT Champions Tour season. The organization announced the arrival of the 2025 world champion and Champions MVP on Tuesday, November 3, bringing the former NRG initiator into its revamped VCT Americas lineup.
The signing comes just one day after Sentinels introduced Francis “OXY” Hoang from Cloud9. With brawk now confirmed, the organization has five players on its roster for 2027, completing the two additions that followed the departures of Jerrwin and JonahP.
Lion Esports had reported an agreement between brawk and Sentinels in late October. The organization made the move official with the following announcement on X:
brawk's Rise From Challengers to World Champion
brawk reached the top level of North American VALORANT after competing for Moist x Shopify and Shopify Rebellion Black. He joined NRG in February 2025 and went on to win the biggest title of his career later that year.
At VALORANT Champions Paris 2025, NRG defeated Fnatic 3-2 in the grand final to claim the world championship. brawk was named the tournament's MVP, emerging as one of the defining players of NRG's title run. The initiator became particularly well known for his Sova play and his use of the Odin.
NRG remained competitive in 2026, finishing third at Masters Santiago, taking second place at the Esports World Cup and reaching the playoffs at Champions Shanghai. Its world title defense ended in fifth to sixth place following losses to LOUD and 100 Thieves. brawk now leaves that roster to join another VCT Americas partner for the next season.
Sentinels' Five-Player Roster for 2027 Is Complete
After officially parting ways with Gurjiwan “Jerrwin” Gill and Jonah “JonahP” Pulice at the end of October, Sentinels announced two signings in two days. OXY, who spent three years with Cloud9, arrived on November 2 to fill the duelist role. brawk's addition brings an established initiator into the lineup.
The team's five confirmed players are:
- Brock “brawk” Somerhalder (signed from NRG)
- Francis “OXY” Hoang (signed from Cloud9)
- Mohamed Amine “johnqt” Ouarid (in-game leader)
- Yassin “Reduxx” Aboulalazm
- Gabriel “cortezia” Cortez
A Rebuild After Sentinels' Difficult 2026 Season
The roster changes follow a year in which Sentinels failed to qualify for Masters Santiago, Masters London or Champions Shanghai. The team finished ninth to tenth at both VCT Americas Kickoff and Stage 1, then saw its Stage 2 campaign end in the Play-Ins with a 2-0 loss to KRÜ Esports on August 22.
Sentinels was nevertheless retained among the eight VCT Americas partner organizations for the 2027-2028 cycle. With OXY and a former Champions MVP joining johnqt, Reduxx and cortezia, the team has filled its five roster spots ahead of the new season. Its next challenge will be turning those changes into a return to international competition.
