G2 Esports Reportedly Adding HYUNMIN to Its 2027 VALORANT Roster
Song “HYUNMIN” Hyun-min is reportedly set to join G2 Esports for the 2027 VALORANT Champions Tour season. According to Alejandro “Anonimotum” Gomis of Sheep Esports, the South Korean duelist reached a verbal agreement with G2 on November 1, in a move first reported by Lenkee11 on X.
The 20-year-old would take the place of Alexander “jawgemo” Mor, who has been linked with a move to Team Vitality. G2 has not officially announced HYUNMIN's signing, and the reported agreement should not be treated as a completed transfer.
G2's 2027 Rebuild Nears Completion
HYUNMIN is the latest name linked with a G2 overhaul that was already taking shape before VALORANT Champions Shanghai. Sheep Esports previously reported that Eduardo “Sato” Nagahama and Francisco “kiNgg” Aravena, both from Leviatán, had reached agreements to join the organization. Strafe also covered G2's pursuit of Sato in September.
One change is already official: G2 announced the departure of in-game leader Jacob “valyn” Batio on October 27, ending his three-year run with the team. The arrivals of Sato and kiNgg, as well as the departure of Andrej “babybay” Francisty and jawgemo's reported move to Vitality, remain part of the wider offseason picture rather than a fully confirmed roster announcement.
Meanwhile, Nathan “leaf” Orf and Trent “trent” Cairns have extended their contracts through 2028. Head coach Josh “JoshRT” Lee is also under contract through that year, giving G2 some continuity as the playing lineup changes.
G2 Esports' Reported Roster for 2027
If the moves reported by Sheep Esports go through, G2's starting five would be:
- Song “HYUNMIN” Hyun-min (reported arrival from DRX)
- Eduardo “Sato” Nagahama (reported arrival from Leviatán)
- Francisco “kiNgg” Aravena (reported arrival from Leviatán)
- Nathan “leaf” Orf (under contract)
- Trent “trent” Cairns (under contract)
The list is a reported projection, not an official announcement. Sheep Esports expects kiNgg to assume in-game leadership, while the exact agent roles for HYUNMIN and Sato have not been confirmed.
HYUNMIN's Two Years With DRX
HYUNMIN joined DRX in October 2024 after competing for Japan's CREST GAMING Zst. He quickly established himself in VCT Pacific, helping DRX win Pacific Kickoff 2025 before finishing third at VALORANT Champions Paris later that year. His agent pool includes Jett and Raze, his two most-played agents, along with other duelists.
The following season was less successful for DRX. The team failed to qualify for any of 2026's three global events, and its position in the league became uncertain as Riot Games prepared a new partnership cycle. On October 22, DRX officially parted ways with HYUNMIN, as well as MaKo, BeYN, free1ng and two coaches, after missing out on a VCT Pacific partnership for 2027.
G2, meanwhile, was selected as one of the eight VCT Americas partner organizations for 2027 and 2028. If his move is finalized, HYUNMIN would switch from Pacific to Americas after two seasons in Korea's top-flight circuit.
A New G2 Lineup After Another Deep International Run
G2's decision to rebuild follows another season of strong results without an international title. After sweeping all three regional VCT Americas tournaments in 2025, the team won Americas Stage 1 in 2026 and finished fourth at Masters Santiago.
The year ended with G2's best VALORANT Champions finish to date. The team reached the top four in Shanghai before losing 2-1 to 100 Thieves in the lower bracket on October 16. Despite its regional titles and repeated international playoff appearances, G2 is still chasing its first global VALORANT trophy.
With a newly secured VCT partnership and three arrivals now reported, G2 is preparing for a different look in 2027. Whether HYUNMIN becomes part of that lineup will depend on official confirmation of the agreement.
