PSG makes a comeback in time for Dota2's International 2023. The unexpected partnership with Quest Esports has left the community shocked. Only a month ago, PSG had parted ways with LGD. They had been partners since 2018, with a three-time Top 3 finish at TI. However, this new partnership shows Quest's impact in the 2023 DPC.

Quest Esports' 2023 Journey

Quest started the year as Ooredoo Thunders in Tour 1 of WEU DPC. They beat Old G in the Closed Qualifiers and moved to Division II. Losing only one series to Monaspa in Div II, they secured their Division I spot for Tour 2.

Division I Run

In Div I of Tour 2, Ooredoo Thunders struggled due to the lack of experience but adapted quickly, winning against Gaimin Gladiators and Tundra Esports. Keeping their Div I spot, they transitioned to Quest Esports in Tour 3. With learned experience and the addition of Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf, they qualified for the Bali Major. It was the first Major tournament for these newcomers, and surprisingly, they finished Top 4.

The International 2023 WEU Qualifier

Unfortunately, the lack of DPC points forced Quest Esports to go through Regional Qualifiers for TI. Beating prominent teams such as OGSecret, and Luna Galaxy, Quest secured their spot in TI.

The new partnership is an incredible opportunity for this new team. A result of their strong DPC run shows the team's potential. With an organization like PSG backing them, Quest can surely reach new heights.

This partnership also increases the expectations of Quest's players.

Community's reaction

The Dota2 community was initially surprised by the partnership but quickly provided a reason. Qatar Sports Investments owns PSG, and since Quest Esports is a Qatar-based team, this increases the financial interests of the partnership. This bold move just before TI slightly proves this theory but with TI's questionable prize pool?

Popular streamer Gorgc also reacted surprisingly and questioned if there was a bigger motive behind this.

There's no doubt in Quest's hard work leading to PSG partnering with them. So, the future of this partnership and Quest Esports starts at The International 2023.
