Prepare to dive into the heart of competitive Counter Strike as the PGL Major Copenhagen looms on the horizon. With its dynamic format, exhilarating matches, and nail-biting moments, this tournament promises to be an unforgettable spectacle as we crown our first Champions of CS2.

Format:

  • The PGL Major Copenhagen kicks off with the Opening Stage (formerly the Challengers Stage), featuring a 16-team Swiss System format.
    • Rounds 2 to 5 employ the Buchholz system alongside teams' initial seeds for seeding.
    • Matches determining elimination or advancement are contested in a Bo3 format, while all other matches adopt a Bo1 format.
    • The top 8 teams secure passage to the Elimination Stage, while the bottom 8 teams are eliminated.
  • The intense action continues with the Elimination Stage (formerly the Legends Stage), following a similar format to the Opening Stage.
    • This stage maintains the 16-team Swiss System format, with seeding for Rounds 2 to 5 determined by the Buchholz system and teams' initial seeds.
    • Matches deciding elimination or advancement are Bo3, while all other matches adhere to a Bo1 structure.
    • The top 8 teams emerge victorious, securing their passage to the Playoff Stage, while the bottom 8 teams are eliminated.
  • The climax of the event arrives with the Playoff Stage, which will feature a single-elimination bracket where all matches, including the Grand Final, are Bo3.

Schedule:

Opening Stage:

The Opening Stage will take place from March 17th to 20th. The inaugural round of the Opening Stage kicks off with an exhilarating showdown between Cloud9 and ECSTATIC on the A Stream, while Eternal Fire clashes with TheMongolz on the B Stream. Following the conclusion of the opening matches, Day 1 will proceed to Round 2 with the 1-0 and 0-1 pools, ensuring a full day of intense competition.

13:00 CET | Cloud9 vs ECSTATIC

13:00 CET | Eternal Fire vs TheMongolz

14:00 CET | ENCE vs Imperial Esports

14:00 CET | Apeks vs paiN Gaming

15:00 CET | 9 Pandas vs AMKAL ESPORTS

15:00 CET | Heroic vs Lynn Vision Gaming

16:00 CET | FURIA Esports vs Legacy

16:00 CET | SAW vs KOI

All matches of the following days in the Opening Stage will follow a similar timing schedule, with the first matches of the day beginning at 13:00 CET.

Elimination Stage:

Once the Opening Stage draws to a close, the Elimination Stage will commence the following day. It will take place from March 21st to 24th.

Elimination Stage matches will follow a similar schedule to the Opening Stage, with matches beginning at 13:00 CET each day.

After narrowing down the field to eight teams, a three-day hiatus ensues before the Playoffs commences on March 28th.

Playoffs:

The Playoffs will begin from March 28th. Against the backdrop of the Royal Arena, adorned with the fervent cheers of fans and the pulsating energy of competition, these elite contenders will clash in a thrilling spectacle of the best Counter Strike has to offer.

The Grand Finals will take place on 31st March 2024.

Where to Watch:

The Opening Stage and the Elimination Stage will be split between the A Stream and B Stream on multiple platforms. Multiple language streams will also be available in Russian and Portuguese.

The Playoffs will be broadcasted live on the A Stream.

Prize Pool:

The PGL Major Copenhagen will have a prize pool of $1,250,000 USD, which will be distributed amongst the participating teams as follows:

  • 1st: $500,000
  • 2nd: $170,000
  • 3rd - 4th: $80,000
  • 5th  -8th: $45,000
  • 9th - 16th: $20,000
  • 17th - 24th: $10,000

The champions will also get an invite to the BLAST Premier World Final, which will take place at the end of the calendar year.
