Overwatch Season 4 is set to introduce changes to three core maps: Paraiso, Eichenwalde, and Busan. These map reworks are based on player feedback and aim to not only improve the gameplay experience but also add to the game's evolving storyline.

With each season of Overwatch taking the story in a new direction, the developers are updating maps to align with major story arcs. The narrative of Season 4 appears to involve the Junkers, as some changes coming to Busan are tied to them.

Furthermore, with the next hero release being a Korean MEKA pilot, we can expect part of the story to unfold in the South Korean map, particularly in the MEKA Base section of Busan.

Below, we've listed all the changes coming to the three maps with Season 4 on August 11. Some updates are purely cosmetic, while others intend to improve gameplay. Let's dive in.

Paraiso Rework

The Rio‑based Hybrid map will receive artistic updates, including new designs and music, that build on its identity while keeping pace with the game's evolving lore.

Additionally, several layout adjustments will be made to improve the quality of Attacker‑sided gameplay, adding high‑ground access and new flanking routes. Below are all the changes and additions:

Point 1

  • The closed rooftop just outside the Attacker spawn has been converted into a pool.

  • An elevator now provides access to the vantage point near the pool.

  • A new route has been added on the left side of the Attacker spawn.

  • A large statue of Domina now stands on the first point.

Point 2

  • Layout updates, including new routes, expanded buildings, and elevation access for Attackers, open more flanking opportunities and reduce choke potential.

  • New decorations and music have been added.

Point 3

  • New music has been introduced.

  • The high ground for Defenders on Club Synesthesia has been removed.

  • A frog paludarium has been added.

  • A dance floor now reacts when Lucio drops the beat.

Eichenwalde Rework

The Stuttgart‑based Hybrid map receives some much‑needed adjustments. Eichenwalde has always been Defender‑sided, but the changes arriving in Season 4 aim to make it more Attacker‑friendly and balanced.

Point 1

  • New high ground (with an elevator) added just outside the Attacker spawn.

  • Improved access to the right‑side flank area for Attackers, with platforms extended on both sides.

Point 2

  • A staircase has been added to the wooden ramp on the fort, making it more accessible for Attackers.

  • A jump pad has been added to the platform below the bridge on the right side.

  • A window has been added behind the new jump pad. Players can shoot through the window's grills to damage enemies on the jump pad platform.

Point 3

  • Final Defender spawn room locations have been slightly adjusted.

  • A new elevated window has been added to the Defender spawn room.

Busan Rework

The South Korean Control map receives several changes to improve playability and align with the game's evolving lore. Busan's design has been updated to reflect the damage caused by the Junkers.

Downtown

  • Some areas of this section have been expanded to reduce choke potential, while certain long sightlines have been removed.

  • The tower at the capture point now features a new look to show that it has been taken over by the Junkers.

  • A jump pad has been added inside the newly modified tower.

  • A Jiggly Pig has been added on the other side of the map, similar to the Jiggly Cow.

Sanctuary

  • The route from the Tiger spawn room to the capture point now has a new window overlooking the point.

  • Trees and foliage have been updated to match the summer season.

  • A new mineral spring has been added on one side of the map, parallel to the capture point, offering a Large Health Pack.

  • On the opposite end, the Junker mothership is now visible on the horizon.

MEKA Base

  • The experimental EMP that was previously in the area accessible via the stairs on the right side of the Training Room spawn has been removed.

  • The layout outside the other spawn room has been altered.

  • The path on the right side of the spawn room now leads to a new flanking route.

The upcoming map changes were revealed during the OWCS Midseason Championship Grand Final today. The event also featured a teaser for Overwatch's next hero, hinting at an August 6 date for the character's first official look.
