Overwatch at Esports World Cup 2026: Format, Dates, Tickets, and More

Overwatch will be one of the 24 featured titles at the Esports World Cup 2026, joining CS2, VALORANT, League of Legends, and several other top gaming titles. Unlike most other tournaments in the World Cup, this will not be an EWC-exclusive event. Instead, it will serve as the OWCS Midseason Championship, which will count as Overwatch's official Esports World Cup event.

Similar to the previous season, the 2026 Midseason Championship will feature 16 teams, though they will compete under a revised format. The event also boasts a massive $1 million prize pool and the prestige of claiming an Esports World Cup title. Over five days, from July 29 to August 2, fans can expect high-stakes action between some of Overwatch's top teams during the EWC season.

At EWC 2025, Team Falcons' Korean Overwatch roster took home the winner's trophy, along with a $400,000 cash prize and 1,000 EWC Club Points, the latter being crucial in the organization’s ultimate Club Championship victory. Their star DPS talent, Proper, emerged as the tournament MVP. As a result of their success last season, Falcons will automatically qualify for this year's tournament.

Qualification Pathway

Teams can qualify for the OWCS Midseason Championship at the Esports World Cup through regional qualification pathways. Apart from the reigning champion receiving an automatic invitation, all other slots must be earned via regional qualifier events.

A minimum of four slots are reserved for Asia-Pacific teams, while North America, EMEA, and China each receive three slots. South America has the fewest representation, with just one slot.
