Overwatch is set to reintroduce previously released Battle Passes as Unvaulted Passes. Arriving with the Season 4 midseason patch, this new feature will offer players a second chance to collect enticing cosmetics they may have missed in recent years.

Season 4 already introduced a massive revamp to the game's Battle Pass. Paired with this upcoming change, Overwatch Battle Passes will have a completely new feel and approach. Here's everything we know so far about this new feature.

Unvaulted Battle Passes Will Arrive in Overwatch Season 4

Overwatch's Battle Pass structure has evolved significantly over the years. With the arrival of Unvaulted Passes, players will have a selection of older Battle Passes to choose from.

You can either purchase any of the older passes or select one of the eligible former Battle Passes you already own. They will be permanently available to complete alongside the current Battle Pass.

Players will have the flexibility to complete Unvaulted Passes at their own pace. While it's unclear whether you can progress through older passes simultaneously with the ongoing one, Blizzard has stated that you can "progress alongside the current season."

When the feature arrives, you'll have the option to choose between the "Current Pass" and "Unvaulted Passes" in the Battle Pass section. The teaser Blizzard shared shows 23 passes available in the Unvaulted Gallery, with unpurchased ones appearing in the Shop.

This figure matches the total number of Overwatch Battle Passes released so far. Between 2022 and 2026, during the Overwatch 2 era, the game saw 20 seasons. Since reverting to "Overwatch," there have been 3 complete seasons, bringing the total number of passes to 23, excluding the ongoing one.

A key point to note is that Unvaulted Passes will not include all Battle Pass rewards. Although they will follow the classic linear progression structure, only key tier rewards will be obtainable. Notably, they will not include Overwatch Coins, Mythic Prisms, Prestige Titles, or Mythic Hero and Weapon skins.

While this has caused some disappointment among players, it is a justifiable restriction given that there are over 20 old passes. Furthermore, with the ongoing Battle Pass being the season's highlight, it makes sense not to let the Unvaulted Passes overshadow it.

That's all we know about the Unvaulted Passes so far. More information will become available as we approach the midseason update, which is expected sometime around mid‑September.
