Is Joe Marsh Leaving T1? Organization Reportedly Set for CEO Change
Sports Seoul has reported new details surrounding the internal conflict at T1 headquarters. According to the Korean outlet, the organization's two largest shareholders, SK Square and Comcast Spectacor, have been holding board meetings to discuss various issues, including the appointment of T1's next CEO.
"SK Square is taking the questions surrouding the exclusive agency and the CEO position very seriously," close sources told Sports Seoul.
The Future of Joe Marsh at T1
On August 25, the Korean outlet Sports Seoul reported that SK Square has been meeting with T1's second-largest shareholder, Comcast Spectacor, to discuss the organization's ongoing internal issues and future management directions.
SK Square is the biggest shareholder of T1, holding a 53.13% stake, while Comcast Spectacor owns 34.3%.
"I understand that SK Square views the issue regarding the exclusive agency and the CEO as serious matters," a source close to the matter told Sports Seoul. "I know that a board meeting was held this month, and in-depth discussions took place, including the appointment of the next CEO."
In response, a T1 official stated, "There is nothing we can confirm."
The talks, however, appear to have gone beyond simply taking stock of the current situation. According to Sports Seoul, SK Square has already provided Comcast Spectacor with a list of potential candidates for T1's next CEO.
So far, there has been no information regarding the future of current CEO Joe Patrick Marsh, who has been with the organization since October 2019.
In May, INVEN reported that T1 had allegedly extended Marsh's contract through March 2030, thereby securing his position for nearly three more years. However, T1 has never publicly confirmed the reported contract extension.
What Is Happening at T1?
Joe Marsh's decisions at T1 have long been questioned by fans, with some accusing him of mismanaging the organization's League of Legends team.
The transfer of Choi "Zeus" Woo-je to Hanwha Life Esports became one of the biggest controversies surrounding T1 and eventually led the organization to issue an official apology for its handling of the player's departure.
The latest discussions come amid a weeks-long investigation into the contract between T1 and CAA Singapore, the organization's exclusive agency for commercial sponsorships.
Sports Seoul also reported that the League of Legends team was assigned to external events for 102 days throughout 2025, highlighting the team's demanding commercial schedule alongside its domestic and international competitive commitments.
The article noted that some sponsorship deals reportedly secured by T1 employees were nevertheless handled by CAA Singapore. It also highlighted a previous connection between Joe Marsh and CAA Singapore head Adrian Stati, although there is no indication that their past association influenced the deal.
This report has raised questions about the contract's structure, commission levels, and how commercial performance is credited. For the time being, though, the future remains uncertain over at the T1 headquarters.
