NAVI IGL Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen has been sentenced to four months of suspended imprisonment by the district court of Itä‑Uusimaa in Finland. The CS2 player faced charges of gross tax fraud for failing to report €53,000 of income in 2020, when he was just 22 years old.

The charges stem from Aleksib's failure to account for his share of the CS:GO Major sticker revenue in 2019 during his time at ENCE. That year, he competed in two Majors: IEM Katowice and StarLadder Berlin.

The €53,000 in undeclared income resulted in a €28,000 difference in taxable amount. The court ultimately handed down a suspended sentence, meaning the player could avoid prison time.

Aleksib Dodges Jail Time With Suspended Sentence

Under Finnish law, a suspended sentence means the convicted person avoids jail time and is instead placed on probation. In Aleksib's case, the four-month suspended term means he will not serve immediate prison time, provided he complies with the conditions set by the court.

Aleksib's defense claimed that the player believed the taxes had already been paid and that the failure to report the additional income was simply a matter of ignorance.

The District Court, however, did not find that explanation credible. There was substantial financial benefit for Aleksib, and he had earlier admitted he would review the tax proposals at home.

The court also dismissed the idea that his youth excused the oversight, noting in its judgment:

“Although Virolainen was young at the time of the act, he was not a minor"

The unreported income also accounted for close to a third of Aleksib's total income in 2019, leading the court to conclude it was implausible that the player failed to notice the missing amount on his pre‑filled tax return.
