The Rainbow Six Siege competitive scene reached a historic milestone at the BLAST R6 Major Osaka 2026 on November 6. In a Phase 1 Lower Bracket quarterfinal upset, Kingzone defeated Dplus 2–1, securing the first-ever international Bo3 series victory for a CNL team and eliminating Dplus Kia from the tournament.
A Historic Upset Against the Odds
Heading into the matchup, community predictions overwhelmingly favored the APL side, with 92.8% of voters on Strafe Esports predicting a Dplus victory compared to just 7.2% for Kingzone.
However, the CNL squad shattered expectations across the three maps. Kingzone took Map 1, Border, with a 7–4 victory. After Dplus Kia responded on Lair with a 7–4 win of their own, Kingzone demonstrated mental resilience on the Chalet decider, closing out the series 7–4.
The Fallout of the All-Brazilian Dplus Roster
Dplus Kia’s elimination brought a sudden end to their controversial Stage 2 campaign. Operating under South Korean organization Dplus Kia, the squad fielded an all-Brazilian roster.
By winning the APAC North Stage 2 title over Japan's CAG by VARREL, Dplus claimed the subregion's sole spot, leaving host country Japan without native representation at the Osaka Major.
Following Kingzone’s victory, even the official Rainbow Six Esports X account acknowledged the intense community sentiment, posting "another victory for the hate watchers" and "It's time to learn Chinese buddy".
Structural Format and Regional Debates
The match outcome reignited arguments over regional esports structures. CAG coach Sparky argued that budget constraints and isolated subregional formats left Dplus only prepared for domestic rivals.
Dplus coach Hell rejected the claim, asserting that equal opportunity existed for all competitors. Ultimately, Kingzone's decisive triumph proves the growing global competitiveness of the CNL while leaving Dplus to regroup after a high-profile international exit.
At the time of writing, Kingzero are now playing LOS for a spot into Phase 2 of the Osaka Major. If they win, they will be the third CNL team moving into Phase 2.
