In an official update published on social media, Ubisoft declared that it has made the difficult decision to sunset its competitive tactical shooter, Rainbow Six Mobile. The announcement came just months after the title's long-awaited worldwide release on February 23, 2026, which followed nearly three years of technical testing, closed betas, and extended development.
Despite the decision to end long-term development, Ubisoft confirmed that game servers will remain online until January 15, 2027, offering players a prolonged transition period.
Furthermore, the developers confirmed that the next scheduled content season will still launch next week as planned.
A Multi-Year Journey from Soft Launch to Global Release
Rainbow Six Mobile was engineered from the ground up to translate the tactical 5v5 FPS mechanics of Rainbow Six Siege to smartphones, complete with customizable HUDs, specialized Operators, and destructible environments.

First entering soft launch in August 2023, the game underwent a multi-month development pause in 2024 so developers could overhaul game modes, progression, and in-game economies.
Across 15 seasons and various testing phases, players engaged in intense close-quarters combat on classic maps like Bank and Oregon, as well as mobile-exclusive arenas such as Restaurant and Summit.
In their farewell message, the dev team expressed deep gratitude to the global community for sharing memorable plays, videos, and tournament strategies.
Reassigning Developers to Future Projects
Explaining the transition, Ubisoft revealed that the development team will move on to support other long-term strategic projects within the company.
Over the coming weeks, the studio plans to release further updates detailing how players can prepare for the final shutdown.
Although players who anticipated years of competitive mobile action expressed disappointment over the closure, Rainbow Six Mobile leaves behind a unique legacy in handheld tactical shooters prior to its final shutdown in early 2027.
