The widely popular tactical first person hero shooter Valorant is Riot’s brainchild and has taken the world by storm. The game has won back-to-back ‘Esports game of the Year’ at the Game Awards and ‘Game of the Year’ at the Esports Awards.

The game that is currently exclusively available on PC has already started making its move to the mobile gaming market. The Riot successfully completed the closed beta testing of the game in 2023 and hopefully it will launch in the first quarter of 2024.

With only one untounched market left, Riot Games has been already planning to bring Valorant to the console market since 2022. The rumors started going round when Riot Games made a vacancy listing for ‘Senior Game Designer, Console’. Currently, the vacancy listing features a 'Associate Console Playtest Analyst' job, hinting at the development.

Additionally, data-miners have reported Playstation and Xbox icons in the game files, leading to speculations of a console version to the popular game. Around 20th December 2023, Valorant Updates on X/Twitter, a well-known source, confirmed that the Console playtest will start early next year.

This information hasn’t been confirmed by Riot themselves, but as the gaming market is right now, it is important to keep your eggs in multiple baskets. Additionally, Riot’s partnership with Microsoft and Xbox Game Pass hints at the upcoming possibility of Valorant on Console.

If and when the game releases, it will be interesting to see what route Riot takes with the esports scene for the console version of Valorant. For now, there are just rumors and speculations.

Stay tuned on Strafe for Valorant console updates.

Team Vitality CEO Neo: "For Us to be a Global Leader Means Being a Contender at EWC"

Team Vitality remains one of the most influential and well-known esports organizations to date. The Paris-based org fields over 20 esports teams in various esports, though their immensely impressive results in Counter-Strike take center stage.  Being one of the organizations present at Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris, we managed to speak with Fabien "Neo" Devide, Co-Founder and CEO of the Hive, just after an interview with Mike McCabe, COO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, at the opening press conference at EWC. Neo provided a ton of insight into the organization's participation at this year's edition of EWC in Paris. He expressed his desire for the org to perform to the highest standards, but also highlighted that rivalry is key to grow the ecosystem. Additionally, Neo gave strong opinions on the growth of mobile esports following last year's Vitality's takeover and merger with Indonesian side Bigetron, stressing the need for innovation and following ideas in the east, as much as the west.
