G2 Esports win the LEC Versus and qualify to First Stand 2026

G2 Esports win the LEC Versus and qualify to First Stand 2026

G2 Esports rise to the top of the LEC once more. After a thrilling, back-and-forth Grand Finals against Karmine Corp, G2 not only managed to come away with the LEC Versus trophy in the end, but also secure their spot at First Stand 2026 in Brazil.

The Kings of Europe Live On

Could things really have gone any other way? For all of G2's struggles throughout the Regular Season of the 2026 LEC Versus, the team found a different gear in the Playoffs. In fact, G2 managed to reach the Grand Finals without dropping a single game in the process.

Against a new and improved Karmine Corp squad, however, things would prove a little tougher. G2 came flying out of the gates, taking down KC in back-to-back games to set themselves just one game away from putting on a flawless run through the Playoffs — something which, by the way, hasn't been done in the LEC since 2019 (yes, it was G2).

Karmine Corp, however, wouldn't go down without a fight. With great drafts in Games 3 & 4 of the series, KC punched back to even out the series before G2 had anything to say about it.

With so many options exhausted for both teams throughout a long Fearless series, the final game turned into an absolute bloodbath. After trading blows and objectives for more than 45 minutes, G2 finally seized victory off the back of a well-timed backdoor by BrokenBlade and SkewMond.

Mr. LEC Himself: Caps Wins MVP

When push came to shove, it was none other than Caps who rose to the challenge and dug G2 out of a hole of their own making. Clutch fight after clutch fight, Caps' Anivia proved more than crucial for G2, single-handedly keeping his team in the game when things started getting ugly.

For his superhuman efforts, Caps was named the LEC Versus Finals MVP. The craziest part, though, is that Caps simply doesn't get tired of doing it. After nearly a decade in the LEC, the Danish star continues to be the best player in the region.

If you need any more convincing, just remember that Caps has now won a whopping 16 LEC titles, all while claiming 7 Finals MVP awards in the process. Simply unmatched.

After losing out their spot at the inaugural edition of First Stand to none other than Karmine Corp last year, revenge sure must feel good for G2. Now, the Kings of the LEC have secured their spot at First Stand 2026, where Caps will get to measure up against another titan of the Mid Lane: Chovy.

Best Champions to Climb League of Legends Ranked in Patch 26.07

League of Legends Patch 26.07 landed on April 1, 2026, continuing the string of smaller-than-usual wave of changes as Riot's attention shifts toward the upcoming Season 2 update. Key tweaks hit the Support pool, with Nami receiving nerfs to her W bounce mechanic and the support farming penalty being removed entirely, while a handful of statistical overperformers across other roles were also trimmed. The meta, however, remains largely intact, and the champions who excelled in Solo Queue in previous patches continue to shine. If you're looking to gain LP efficiently, here are the best champions to climb ranked in LoL Patch 26.07.
