The opening match on the main stage of BLAST R6 Major Munich delivered an unprecedented showdown as Team Secret faced FURIA in the lower bracket. A surprising scenario for both teams, who arrived at the Major as favorites, holding major victories from the Esports World Cup and RELOAD 2025, respectively. It was quite the surprise to find these two battling for survival this early, when most would have predicted them going deeper.

FURIA’s Rock-Solid Year Shaken

FURIA had been riding high throughout 2025, capturing the RELOAD trophy on home soil, dominating both Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the South American league, and even achieving a podium finish at EWC. However, their Major campaign began on shaky ground. Recent struggles surfaced in their group stage showing, dropping a should-have-been-safe map to Dplus. Though they managed to make playoffs, a 3-2 record forced them to start from the lower bracket.

Supporters of the Brazilian squad endured a tough watch in this series. They began strong on Chalet, which was FURIA’s map choice, crafting a 4-2 lead on attack. That momentum dissolved on defense, as glaring gaps allowed Secret to steal the map 7-5, with FURIA able to secure just one defensive round.

It was more of the same on Bank, Secret’s pick, where FURIA’s defense again was nowhere near the level it was expected to be. Adding to that an inability to mount an effective attack on unfamiliar ground, FURIA fell 7-4, cementing their exit from the tournament.

What’s Next

FURIA’s recent international struggles raise questions about their adaptability under pressure, despite clear domestic dominance. Fans and analysts alike believe this roster is capable of much more, setting the stage for an important reset ahead of the Six Invitational 2026. Team Secret, meanwhile, continues forward, with another elimination matchup against M80 awaiting them in the next round.
