The much-anticipated second season of Arcane is here, and fans are tuning in from all corners of the globe to watch the next chapter in Riot Games’ acclaimed animated series.

Following the smashing success of the show's first season, Arcane Season 2 has claimed the top spot on Netflix across more than 60 different countries across the globe, according to a report by Dexerto's Carver Fisher. This feat leaves other popular shows, like Outer Banks, trailing far behind in global rankings.

According to FlixPatrol, a site that, among other things, ranks shows based on popularity in each country, Arcane has held a dominant position since its premiere. With only the first three episodes released, the show's popularity is expected to soar even higher as Netflix unveils the remaining episodes in two more batches, culminating in a finale set for November 23.

It appears the show's impressive numbers across the world are not just an effect of novelty or good marketing, however. Season 2 of Arcane currently holds a perfect critics' score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, while the audience score is down to a measly 97%.

Time to pay back

Arcane's massive success is essential to justify its hefty production costs, as Season 2 reportedly stands as the most expensive animated show ever made, with a budget exceeding $250 million. Riot Games has also expanded the celebration of Season 2 by releasing Arcane-themed in-game content such as several champion skins for League of Legends, allowing fans of their games to experience the show’s impact in multiple ways.

With Arcane captivating audiences worldwide, Riot’s ambitious series is proving its value, setting the stage for an explosive finale that could see its viewership grow even more.
