VCT 2027 Brazil Qualifier Exceeds Team Cap as Waitlist Opens
The first Brazilian Open Qualifier for VCT Americas Kickoff 2027 has already exceeded its registration limit. As of Tuesday evening, October 27, Gamers Club showed 294 team sign-ups for just 256 available spots, with additional teams joining a waitlist before registration even closes.
The numbers offer an early glimpse of demand for the new open qualification system coming to VALORANT esports in 2027.
How Does Brazil Compare to Other VCT 2027 Qualifiers?
Brazil has recorded considerably more sign-ups than the other regions. The figures included 66 teams in EMEA, 49 in LATAM North, 48 in Türkiye, and 39 in LATAM South. North America had surpassed 60 registered teams as of October 23.
These numbers are preliminary and reflect different registration periods, so they are not a direct measure of regional interest. Pacific qualifiers, for instance, are not scheduled to open registration until November 2.
In Brazil, the 256-team cap has already been reached, but Gamers Club is still accepting waitlist registrations. Teams on the waitlist are not guaranteed a place in the tournament, and registration for the first qualifier remains open until November 2.
Why Does This Matter for VCT 2027?
The surge in registrations comes as Riot Games prepares one of the biggest changes to the VALORANT Champions Tour. Starting in 2027, the circuit will move away from traditional regular-season leagues toward a tournament-based structure featuring Open Qualifiers, Kickoff, regional Cups, Masters, and Champions.
Under the new VCT 2027 format, teams outside Riot's partnership program will have opportunities to qualify for major regional competitions and potentially reach international events through their competitive results.
Each VCT Americas, EMEA, and Pacific Kickoff will feature 12 teams: eight partners and four Open Qualifier entrants. In the Americas, Brazil, North America, and Latin America each have one guaranteed qualification spot, with the final place awarded through an Americas Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ).
The new system also introduces financial incentives for non-partner organizations. Teams qualifying for Kickoff or a regional Cup will receive $100,000 in financial support, while qualification for Masters and Champions comes with payments of $200,000 and $400,000, respectively. These payments are separate from tournament prize money.
Riot's wider plans include more than 50 tournaments throughout the 2027 season, creating additional opportunities for teams to enter or return to top-level competition. Brazil's registration figures are one of the first indications of how much interest those opportunities could attract.
What's Next for the Brazilian Teams?
Brazil will hold two Open Qualifiers in November, with matches scheduled for November 5 to 9 and November 12 to 16. The teams advancing from these events will enter a 16-team playoff stage alongside invited rosters.
The playoff winner will secure Brazil's direct spot at VCT Americas Kickoff 2027. The runner-up will advance to the Americas LCQ on December 17 and 18, facing the runners-up from North America and LATAM for another chance to qualify.
The Kickoff itself will take place in São Paulo from January 14 to February 7, 2027. For a full breakdown of the Brazilian competition, including registration dates, eligibility rules, and playoff format, check out our VCT Americas 2027 Brazil Qualifiers guide.
