The KIA Forum crackled with anticipation as all eyes converged on the ultimate showdown between Evil Geniuses and Paper Rex in the Grand Finals of VALORANT Champions 2023 Los Angeles. With both teams exhibiting remarkable prowess on their journey to the finals, it was Paper Rex, armed with the advantage of map ban due to their upper bracket trajectory, facing off against the heavily improved Evil Geniuses The stage was thus set for a strategic spectacle, promising an exhibition of tactical brilliance and raw skill as these two giants sought to immortalize themselves in the annals of VALORANT history.

The Grand Finals: Paper Rex vs Evil Geniuses

In a riveting best-of-five clash, Evil Geniuses showcased their dominance by securing a decisive 3-1 victory over Paper Rex. This hard-fought victory solidified Evil Geniuses' claim to the VALORANT Champions 2023 throne and etched an unforgettable chapter in the tournament's history.

Map 1: Split

Kicking off the Grand Finals on Split, it was EG who managed to win out the pistol round. However, it was PRX who held contol in the first half. Only allowing EG to hold back 4 rounds on their defense. PRX ended the first half at 8-4, off the back of a 4 round win streak.

However, EG answered back with a tremendous attack side of their own. They again won out the pistol round in the second half. PRX could only manage to salvage 2 rounds in the half, before EG took the map 13-10 in a staggering second half showing.

Map 2: Ascent

PRX had a strong start on Ascent. As they managed to win out 4 rounds right off the bat. But EG managed to fight back. They managed to slaw back 5 rounds, as PRX ended thet first half at 7-5.

EG managed to win out the pistol round once again. They proceeded to win 4 out of the first 5 rounds. But PRX were relentless, and managed to get onto Map Point. Off the back of a 4 round win streak. EG could only claw back 2 more rounds, before PRX took the map at 13-11.

Map 3: Bind

With both teams tied at 1-1, we moved over to Bind. where EG had a terrific start to the map. They managed to win 3 rounds right off the bat. And held complete control over the map, as they ended the first half at a staggering 9-3 on their defense.

PRX tried fighting back. They managed to close out the pistol round. And also secured the following round. But EG decided to put things to rest. They pulled off a 4 round win streak to win out the map in a dominant 13-5.

Map 4: Lotus

With the Champions title on the line, PRX put up quite the fight on Lotus. They managed to secure the pistol, as well as round 2. However, EG were not going to go down without a fight. Both teams traded rounds, as the first half ended 7-5 in favor of PRX.

But EG had plans of their own. They showed off a very strong attack side. As they won 4 rounds right off the bat in the second half. PRX managed to claw back 2 rounds, before EG put themselves on Map Point. PRX gave it everything they had to secure 1 last round, before EG took the map and the series after a hard fought victory at 13-10.

Evil Geniuses have been crowned Champions in LA, as they lift the coveted trophy. Evil Geniuses are the new VALORANT Champions of 2023!
