Dota 2 patch 7.38c is here and rather unexpectedly, dropping mid series at Fissure Universe. While surprising, every Dota 2 patch is welcome and we won't complain about another one.

The latest update comes with a slew of balance changes to the game. And while we may not have access to pro pubs, there is still plenty of data to be gleaned from high mmr pubs.

Timbersaw

Reactive Armor got a nice buff, with an extra level of regeneration added. Considering this is usually a one point wonder in the early game, the extra health helps significantly.

Timber Chain is a spammable spell and gaining an extra 15 damage allows Timbersaw to snowball nicely in the early-game, and eventually to victory.

Overall, it's no surprise Timbersaw gained 2.5% win rate. We don't recommend picking him up just yet though, as he still maintains a sub 50% win rate. So keep away unless you're an expert.

Lycan

While Lycan only gained a couple of points of strength, his win rate shot up nearly 4%! This has last to do with the hero receiving direct buffs and more so regarding the changes to Helm of the Dominator.

Converted creeps can no longer be instantly killed by Hand of Midas or Mirana's Arrow. Nor can they be stolen by Chen and Enchantress. There are other abilities that impact creeps more than heroes (such as Frostbite and Decay) and all of them are weaker against Lycan now.

With a direct buff to his early damage and survivability, and a more durable creep for the whole game, Lycan is back to being a terror to pubs.

Templar Assassin

The biggest winner of Dota 2 patch 7.38c is Templar Assasin, with a nearly 6% jump. She got wonderful direct buffs along with an upgrade to her favorite item.

Refraction has a lower cooldown and an extra charge at all levels. This makes the laning stage significantly easier, as she can now shrug off three hits instead of two. That's a 50% increase in value!

She also gets an extra charge to her level 25 talent. So that's a total of two more charges when she is level 25 now, compared to the previous update.

With more Refraction and a buff to her most used item, Templar Assassin is in a really good spot in the game, and well worth picking in the current patch.
