Following in the spirit of the Olympics, the LCS has announced that it will be hosting a showmatch between Team USA and Team Canada this Friday (August 9th) to set off the Summer Season's closing weekend in style.

Caliber rosters

The two countries will field quality rosters, large parts of which are composed by players from the top 2 teams in the LCS this season: Cloud9 and Team Liquid.

Below are the rosters the teams will field for the upcoming LCS showmatch:

Team USA

Team Canada

As if watching APA and jojopyun go head to head last week had not been enough, viewers will get the pleasure of witnessing the two star mid laners battle it out yet again as they represent their home countries.

A small taste of what's to come

The LCS' initiative for the showmatch comes less than two months after the upcoming creation of the Esports Olympics was announced by Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The inaugural Esports Olympics are set to take place next year (2025), with Saudi Arabia already confirmed as hosts for the event.

The LCS showmatch between Team USA and Team Canada will serve as a small, yet all the same exciting, sample of what fans can expect to see the following year at the Esports Olympics.
