The CS2 IEM Cologne Major 2026 is off to a strong start, and starting Stage 2, the stakes and the entertainment value will only go up as big names join the fray. The biggest, undoubtedly, is donk and Team Spirit.

By virtue of their weak start to the year, the Major contenders — Team Spirit — have to play an extra stage if they want to book their tickets to the legendary LANXESS Arena. Unfortunately, before their journey kicks off, the Russian top dogs have received a significant nerf. Both of Team Spirit’s coaches — hally and S0tF1k — will miss the Stage 2 games.

Hally and S0tF1k Miss Cologne Major Stage 2

According to the statement released by Team Spirit, hally was supposed to resume his duties as the head coach of the team. S0tF1k — a crucial piece for the team’s recent success — will also continue working with the team and IGL magixx. The idea behind the move was to pair hally’s tactics with the elevated basics that Team Spirit displayed at Rio and Astana.

The duo prepared the team and were supposed to debut at the IEM Cologne Major Stage 2. Unfortunately, hally was hospitalised urgently, and S0tF1k wasn’t given a Schengen visa, leaving Team Spirit without a primary coach to stand behind the squad as they play their Stage 2 games.

The former head coach is expected to join the team as soon as he recovers, but that is only possible at a later stage of the tournament.

A Real Test for magixx

Coaches are especially crucial as aptly called timeouts not only reset the momentum but also the team when they are down. With both head coaches absent, the burden of keeping the team in check will fall on the shoulders of the young IGL magixx.

While the competition is much easier than what the team usually faces, it will still be a test for magixx to keep the team in check, as well as for the team analyst.

With the IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 2 kicking off on June 6th, it will be interesting to see how the team plays without the coach, and if at all it affects their performance.
