One of the hottest teams of APAC Valorant, Paper Rex, has signed one of the hottest players in VCL Japan, Ilya "something" Petrov, ahead of the VCT Pacific. The first split of VCT Pacific will kick off in two days. They will take on Detonation FocusMe in the W1 game of the VCT Pacific.

Ilya "something" Petrov is a Russian-Origin Valorant player who has played in the Japanese Valorant circuit since March of 2021. something recently played for Sengoku Gaming in the VCL Japan. Playing duelist, something helped Sengoku Gaming to secure a top 4 finish at the event.  He fragged out for Sengoku and carried them to victory. something was the highest-rated player at the event. He took the world by storm, dropping 120 kills in a best-of-five series on a 3-1 win over IGZIST. something additionally dropped 136 kills in a losing match against Fennel. The performance made waves across the VCL Japan and Valorant world.

Paper Rex is a strong APAC team and one of the strongest teams in VCT Pacific. Despite an early exit at the VCT LOCK//IN 2023, it is the contender for the VCT Pacific title alongside DRX. Paper Rex is still playing the same squad that made an insane run at the VCT Masters Copenhagen 2022, making them a strong international team too. With something as the sixth man, teams's firepower is now increased by a lot. Combined with the insane and experimental compositions of the team, It won't be a surprise to see Paper Rex dominating VCT Pacific and VCT Masters Tokyo.
