PGL Wallachia Season 7: Format, Schedule, Fixtures and More

PGL Wallachia Season 7: Format, Schedule, Fixtures and More

We are already in March (the years get shorter) and PGL Wallachia Season 7 will kick things off for PGL on the Dota 2 professional circuit in 2026. Teams had some time off between DreamLeague Season 28 and Wallachia, but relocating to Romania always takes its toll.

Let's take a look at the tournament's lineup, its classic format and the schedule for the first round of the Group Stage, which is already set and ready to go when the tournament starts on March 7.

PGL Wallachia Season 7 starts on March 7.

PGL Wallachia Season 7: Qualified Teams

First, we have the lineup of invited and qualified teams. This list reminds us that PGL Wallachia has an unorthodox approach to qualifiers. The organization decided to unify the Americas (North and South) and Asia (SEA and China) into one region each while keeping Western Europe and Eastern Europe separate.

Here is the full lineup for PGL Wallachia Season 7:

Vici Gaming appears as a surprise, as they only placed second in the Asian Qualifiers. They were selected as a replacement for Power Rangers, who won the Eastern European Qualifier but had visa issues and could not travel to Romania.

Visa issues turned out to be a constant for PGL Wallachia, much like tournaments held in the UK, such as the upcoming ESL One event. On top of Power Rangers' absence, Tundra Esports and Team Yandex also had problems and will play with a stand-in.

Tournament Organization

As usual, PGL Wallachia Season 7 will feature a simple but effective format. The first stage of the tournament is a Group Stage with all 16 teams playing in an adapted Swiss-format system with five rounds. Teams that lose three matches are eliminated.

All matches will be played as best-of-three series, and teams will be matched based on their performance. This means that the eight teams that win in the first round will face each other in the next round, while the teams that lose will also be matched against one another.

At the end of the Group Stage, eight teams advance to the Playoffs, while the other eight are eliminated. The first batch of qualified and eliminated teams will already be known after the third round.

The Playoffs will have the classic double-elimination best-of-three series with a best-of-five Grand Final to seal the deal.

Group Stage: Schedule For the First Round

As expected from a Swiss stage, we only have the schedule for the first round so far. The following matchups at PGL Wallachia Season 7 will be determined after each round is completed, with teams being paired based on their results.

Here is the schedule for the first round of the Group Stage:

  • 08:00 GMT — OG vs. Vici Gaming
  • 08:00 GMT — PARIVISION vs. Yellow Submarine
  • 11:00 GMT — Xtreme Gaming vs. Team Spirit
  • 11:00 GMT — Aurora Gaming vs. MOUZ
  • 14:00 GMT — Team Liquid vs. BetBoom Team
  • 14:00 GMT — Team Falcons vs. Team Nemesis
  • 08:00 GMT — Tundra Esports vs. Natus Vincere
  • 08:00 GMT — Team Yandex vs. Heroic

Interesting Matchups

As expected, there are no major clashes in the first round. On the other hand, the level of professional Dota 2 has risen so much over the last few years that we still have a good number of interesting battles despite the random matchups.

Xtreme Gaming vs. Team Spirit

Team Spirit were defeated by MOUZ in the PGL Wallachia Season 6 Grand Final and are still looking for ways to improve their performance. Miposhka left a significant mark on the roster and the team has not won a single event since his departure.

Xtreme Gaming recently secured fourth place at DreamLeague Season 28, but they share the same urgent need to improve to the point of consistently winning tournaments ahead of this year's International.

Team Liquid vs. BetBoom Team

Team Liquid recently overcame their slump and won BLAST Slam VI. They also had a perfect run in DreamLeague’s Second Group Stage but ultimately failed to reach the Grand Final.

BetBoom Team finished fourth place at PGL Wallachia Season 6, right behind Liquid, and could provide an exciting match while fighting for their first Group Stage victory. Their recent performances include a seventh-place finish at DreamLeague and sixth place at FISSURE Universe, where they were eliminated by Team Liquid.

Closing Thoughts

PGL Wallachia Season 7 may seem like just another tournament at first glance, but there are several points of interest. Parker playing for Tundra Esports is certainly something to watch, regardless of whether the team manages to win the event.

Vici Gaming also received a golden opportunity with their last-minute invitation, and the return of TI champion Zhang “Bach” Ruida opens the door for the rise of what could become China’s second-best team during a challenging period for the region.
