Luka “Perkz” Perković has announced his decision to take a break from competing professionally.

Perkz last played for Team Heretics in the 2024 LEC Winter Split and Playoffs. After finishing 7th there, Perkz was benched in favor of Artur “Zwyroo” Trojan, a SuperLiga Mid Laner who was competing for Heretics’ Academy roster.

Following the swap, Heretics improved their record in Spring; finishing 4th in the regular Spring Split followed by 5th in Playoffs. With the end of the Spring Split and MSI now underway, Perkz has taken to social media to announce that in lieu of being made inactive on the Heretics’ bench, he would take the opportunity to take a competitive break.

“I realized that I played to reach MSI or Worlds and compete internationally and I didn’t really enjoy the road on the way.”

The reflections from the veteran mid laner speaks volumes as to the direction his journey has taken. From being one of the most legendary Western Mid laners, to being part of the most incredible Western roster ever assembled, and the slow descent since then. Perkz has conquered all of the West and all that he has left is the final peak of Worlds.

“Taking a few months off will make me see if I want to move on or not.”

Perkz signed off by writing that he intended to stream both League of Legends and Valorant, stating that the act of learning something ‘entirely new’ was an enjoyable process in stimulating his brain.

Reactions from the Community

The 25-year-old mid laner has been the subject of massive scrutiny since the end of last year, for his subpar performance on Vitality and then Heretics. The relatively improved success of the new Heretics lineup only serves to fuel this narrative onwards.

Many in the community, personalities and fans alike reached out to wish Perkz luck on his next step in life, whatever he decides to do.
