A few days after the legendary offlaner Sébastien “Ceb” Debs confronted the backlashes that the team was facing, Old G got qualified for the Division II of the Western Europe DPC.

However, the team has a long way to go to reclaim its throne. Old G went through a roster shuffle, adding two new players to restart their journey for the throne. The team received several backlashes for their decision, but it was the right decision as they now have a seat in Division II for the Spring Tour.

Looking Forward

For the first time since qualifying for Division II, Old G’s midlaner and former back-to-back Ti champion Topias “Topson” Miikka Taavitsainen stated the team’s goals in his recent live stream while interacting with Twitch chat.

Topson confirmed that the team is trying to earn a chance to play in The International 2023. Old G's chances of earning a direct invite to The International 2023 are slim. Topson acknowledges this also. Furthermore, the legendary midlaner stated Old G is focused on the route through the qualifiers to reach its goal.

Problems, Hopes and Solutions

As per Valve’s rule, two teams under the same organisation in the same region cannot compete in Valve’s official competitions. To paraphrase, if such a case occurs, the organisation will have to choose the participating team.

Topson and his team acknowledge this, and they’re optimistic. The most fortunate outcome in this situation is that his former team, OG, currently struggling to maintain its slot in Division I, will drop to Division II. When it happens, and if Old G plays their cards right, they could get promoted to Division I. As long as OG stays in Division II, Old G can qualify for The International 2023 with points, without conflict.

Nevertheless, Old G road for Division I is also challenging. They will have to go through notorious teams like Team Secret, Alliance and Into The Breach in Division II to keep their Ti hopes alive. At the end of each Tour, only two teams will get promoted to Division I, while two teams from Division I will get relegated to Division. Old G’s journey will begin on April 5, when Division II playoffs begin.
