OG Esports is eliminated from Riyadh Masters 2024 at a respectable top-12 finish. The team took home USD $100,000 for their troubles, their biggest tournament winnings of the year.

After losing the series to PSG.Quest, team captain and founder Sébastien "Ceb" Debs had a post-game interview, sharing his frustration, plans for the future, and why the team fell apart in Riyadh.

OG.Ceb: "I really tried my hardest for this tournament."

OG had a rough time in the Riyadh Masters playoff. The team dropped their series against Tundra Esports in a disappointing 2-0 fashion. The match against PSG.Quest started with a quick win for OG, but Quest turned it around with two quick stomps.

It was a rough time for OG, as they ended their time in the playoffs with a 1-4 score after starting in the upper bracket. When asked how he felt, OG.Ceb stated that the team's performance was a letdown.

"Disappointment for sure, big disappointment. I mean we didn't have the best season and I think we came into this tournament much stronger than we ended up showing in the playoffs. I think the Dota we built when we came in, not today, I think today we heavily underperformed, against Tundra also. So yeah the Dota we played today was not up to the standard that we built. I strongly believe that the standards we built could have maybe gotten us a top-three this tournament."

Ceb recently celebrated a new milestone in his life, becoming a father. When asked if he will be joining the upcoming season of Elite League, the captain of OG was clear that he needed to focus on his personal life for some time.

"No I will not be attending. It's public knowledge that I became a father recently, so I'm going to just focus on that for now. I also feel like I'm reaching the limits of how much disappointments I can take, because I really tried my hardest for this tournament. We really built something strong, didn't get to show it to the tournament, to the fans, we only showed it behind closed doors to other teams."

The pressure on OG led to their underperformance in Riyadh

During the interview, it was clear that OG.Ceb was very disappointed with how things turned out in Riyadh. Considering the personal sacrifices he took to attend the event, a top-12 finish wasn't enough for the two-time TI champion.

When asked about why he felt the team underperformed, Sébastien put it down to nerves, pure and simple.

"Pressure can disconnect people, create some sort of doubt and I think there was a lot of that going in the last series which led to just poor Dota. I think we did not manage to stay as strong as a team, as united, as much as we should have."

Despite the overall underwhelming result, OG.Ceb does have something to look forward to. He also expressed pride in his teammates for their hard work.

"Parenthood I guess, not so far of what I've been doing this entire season. Hopefully, I'm good enough at that but now I'm just excited to release a little bit of the pressure, chill a bit because it's been an exhausting process, a good one nonetheless. I'm very proud of what the boys put up. I just hope a lot of lessons were learned."
