After FalleN secured his date with destiny, it was NiKo, karrigan and Team Falcons’ shot at securing the coveted CS2 IEM Cologne Major 2026 Grand Finals in the LANXESS. In their way stood a rejuvenated resilient and all-powerful, albeit coachless, Team Spirit

Team Falcons Edge Out Team Spirit

After these two squads played some of the craziest games of CS to overcome their opponents and secured their spots in the Semifinals, Falcons and Spirit clashed in other closely-contested three-map nail-biter for a Grand Finals spot.

The back-and-forth started with Anubis. The two squads relentlessly exchanged blows to tie the game in regulation. Falcons, however, swept overtime T rounds, and despite Spirit’s attempt at equalising, won their map choice.

Mirage was another 6-6 first half. NiKo’s 1v1 win over donk won Falcons a two-round lead. But magixx’s clutch to win an eco round coupled with his B site anchoring, helped Spirit string seven rounds to secure their map pick.

Dust 2 regressed back to the back-and-forth CS. But magixx and tN1R's 2v4 clutch on B-site helped Team Spirit secure a two-round lead going into the final half of the Cologne Major Semifinals.

Falcon’s pistol once again helped them cut off the lead, and thus started another set of exchanges that led to overtime. Unfortunately, Team Spirit could not open up the Falcons’ defense, losing the long drawn series 1-2.

With the win, NiKo, karrigan, m0NESY-TeSeS and kyousuke secured the Grand Finals against FURIA for a chance to lift the IEM Cologne Major 2026 trophy at the Cathedral of Counter-Strike — LANXESS Arena.

The clash also set another CS2 peak viewership, with 2.26 million people tuning in to watch the banger. Not to mention, the event has already previously set the record for the most watched Counter-Strike event and now continues to extend that record.

The Grit of Team Falcons

Ever since karrigan joined Team Falcons, the squad has displayed amazing grit. Especially in the last three series, Team Falcons were able to win long extended series.

Against NAVI, they came back from a 6-11 deficit to win the map and secure Playoffs. They followed it with a win over the tournament favorites — Team Vitality — where all three maps played out the entire length of regulation. And then once more today, in the game against Team Spirit where their map wins came in overtime.

This ability to win long-drawn games will display the squad’s improved resilience, not to mention their ability to win unlikely rounds make them a strong contender for the trophy tomorrow. FURIA themselves are capable of handling such games and will prepare for the Falcons squad accordingly.

Nice Try, Team Spirit!

Despite missing their head coaches at the Major, magixx and Team Spirit put up an amazing seven game win-streak at the Major. The squad has been on an upward trajectory and displayed amazing Counter-Strike at the event.

Especially their win over 9z and G2 Esports display the kind of team Team Spirit are shaping up to be under magixx’s calling. Many ifs and buts can be discussed, but what the squad has achieved at the event, especially when donk struggled, sets them up for an amazing second half.

LANXESS to Crown a New Champion!

Tomorrow, June 21, FURIA and Team Falcons will take the centre stage at the LANXESS.

Will it be NiKo & karrigan finishing what they couldn’t in Boston? Or would it be FalleN lifting the trophy during his last dance. Whatever happens, it is shaping up to be an amazing day for Counter-Strike.
