The bracket could not have set up a more dramatic quarterfinal. IEM Atlanta 2026 is delivering exactly what CS2 fans wanted, and it arrived fast: Natus Vincere and Team Vitality will face off in a best-of-three on May 15, with the winner advancing to the semifinals against BetBoom.

The streak that won't go away

Nine consecutive maps lost. That is the weight NAVI carries into this match. Since IEM Cologne 2024, they haven't taken a single map off Vitality, and the losses keep piling up in the worst spots possible.

The BLAST Rivals Fort Worth Grand Final on May 3 was the most recent reminder: Vitality swept NAVI 3-0, including a stunning 11-0 comeback on the first map that left the Ukrainian side with nowhere to hide. Vitality have now won 27 consecutive playoff maps overall, a streak that belongs in a history book. For NAVI, this match isn't just a quarterfinal; it's yet another chance to break the curse.

How both teams got here

The paths to the playoff bracket tell two very different stories. NAVI had a strong run through Group B, reaching the Upper Bracket Final before stumbling against Legacy in what turned out to be a real upset. That loss sent them into the quarterfinals as a low seed, and fate handed them the toughest possible draw.

Vitality, meanwhile, came through the lower bracket side of Group A after BetBoom knocked them out of the upper bracket early. They fought their way back, beating FaZe Clan and B8 to secure their playoff spot. Neither side is arriving at full confidence, which makes the match genuinely unpredictable.

What NAVI needs to believe in

NAVI captain iM actually addressed the streak directly after the Legacy loss, saying, "At one point we will win a map against them."

It reads less like a cliché and more like a team that has been studying, adapting, and waiting for the right moment. The roster around him, with b1t, w0nderful, makazze, and Aleksib bringing structure and firepower, has the talent to compete with anyone on a given day.

The question is whether the psychological weight of that losing streak becomes a wall or a fuel source. If NAVI can steal a map early and force Vitality to adjust, the series gets interesting in a hurry.

Vitality aren't slowing down.

ZywOo remains the most complete player in the game, and the system around him, built by apEX and supported by ropz, flameZ, and mezii, has been ruthlessly efficient all season.

Five trophies in 2026 before this event even started. Vitality dropped to the lower bracket at IEM Atlanta, yes, but they recovered without drama and look sharp heading into the weekend. Will NAVI finally force them to a third map this time?

The bigger picture

With the IEM Cologne Major coming up on June 2, every match here is also a rehearsal. For NAVI, breaking the streak now would send a massive message to the entire field just weeks before the biggest event of the year. For Vitality, extending the run to ten maps would only deepen their stature as the most dominant team CS2 has ever seen.

The match kicks off at 5:00 PM CET on May 15 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. You can watch it on the ESL official YouTube or Twitch channels.

CS2 Major Revenue Share Changes Are Pushing Organizations Away from Counter-Strike

Valve’s new CS2 Major revenue share ties sticker income to VRS and final placement, removing capsule‑style payouts and concentrating money among top finishers. The result: higher volatility for clubs that relied on sticker cheques, early roster cuts like Gaimin Gladiators, and a narrower field of sustainable CS2 organizations unless the payout model changes.
