League of Legends Patch 26.07 Preview: Kalista Buffs, Nami Nerfs, and More

League of Legends Patch 26.07 Preview: Kalista Buffs, Nami Nerfs, and More

A new League of Legends patch is on the horizon. LoL Patch 26.07 won't be a particularly big one, but it will still deliver buffs to a few forgotten champions, and nerfs picks that been taking over the game recently.

Let's have a look at some of the biggest changes coming our way once LoL Patch 26.07 goes live on Wednesday, April 1.

Kalista and Cassiopeia Get Some Love

Over in the Mid Lane, Cassiopeia will be receiving some buffs that will see early laning phase pack an even stronger punch. With buffs coming to her base mana pool and the bonus damage of her [E] Twin Fangs against poisoned targets, Cass' players will feel at liberty to throw out more early Q's to try and hard-punish overstepping lane opponents.

And then we have The Spear of Vengeance herself. Currently, Kalista is the AD carry with the lowest Solo Queue win rate in the entire game in Patch 26.06 (46.26% win rate). Now, LoL Patch 26.07 will look to do something about that as the stacking damage on her bread-and-butter [E] Rend ability gets a slight bump.

It's not entirely clear whether this will be enough to see Kalista climb out of the gutter, but, at this point, any Kalista buff is well appreciated.

Two Top Lane Titans Get the Hammer

While Kalista's win rate struggles to stay afloat, two of the highest win rate champions in the Top Lane will receive some much-needed nerfs with Patch 26.07 of League of Legends. These are Singed and Ornn.

Singed, on the one hand, will receive a nerf to the amount of stats he gains from his [R] Insanity Potion as it ranks up (rank 1 ult stats will remain the same, so this is really only a nerf from level 11 and above).

As for Ornn, his price to pay will be a little higher. The damage of Ornn's [P] Temper is being reduced, and it will no longer scale as well as it once did. Hopefully, this will mean that Ornn can no longer deal ludicrous amounts of damage while still building full tank. Hopefully...

Support Lane Bullies Also Take a Hit

Like Ornn and Singed in the Top Lane, Nami and Karma have also been running amok over in the Support role as of late. Both enchanters are terribly strong laners, have little-to-no losing matchups, and scale pretty strongly into the mid-game. Now, LoL Patch 26.07 is nerfing both of them.

Nami will see a small nerf to the bouncing strength of her [W] Ebb and Flow, especially early on (before she's able to build enough AP to compensate). Karma, meanwhile, will be getting a nerf to the one aspect of her kit that makes her such a powerful presence in skirmishes and teamfights, her [R-E] Defiance combo (AoE shield). The strength of this shield is taking a hit, one which will be felt all the more the longer the game goes on.

A Small but Necessary Update

Even though League of Legends Patch 26.07 will be a relatively small one, it will address some of the issues and champions that have been plaguing Solo Queue for some time now. Whether Riot decides that the changes are enough to land these champions where they want them to be will remain to be seen.
