It appears that North American star mid laner Joseph "Jojopyun" Pyun is set to represent MAD Lions KOI in the LEC for the upcoming season.

After reportedly getting fired from Cloud9 after showing up late for team exercises a staggering 43 times, it did not take long for Jojopyun to find a new home. This time, however, it's all the way across the Atlantic.

The Canadian player joining MAD Lions would set a new first in Europe, as it will be the very first time that a North American player transfers over to the LEC. The move was first reported by esports reporter Alejandro Gomis.

Jojopyun - A shooting star makes LEC history

While Jojo's time in Tier-1 League of Legends has been relatively short, it did not take long for the controversial star to start making headlines.

After joining Evil Geniuses in 2022, Jojopyun ran away with the Rookie of the Year award while leading his team to an LCS trophy on his very first year in the league. As if it that wasn't enough, EG's victory in the LCS also marked Jojopyun as the youngest player ever to win the LCS at just 17 years of age.

The following year, it was just more of the same for Jojopyun, this time storming his way towards earning the LCS MVP award during the 2023 LCS Summer Season.

Jojopyun followed his MVP trophy by joining Cloud9 in search of greater things. Despite C9's star studded roster, however, the team amounted to a whole lotta nothing as the boys in blue failed to lift even a single LCS trophy.

Following a disappointing 2024, Cloud9 opted to let go of Jojopyun due to his constant displays of indiscipline, as told by IWDominate in a YouTube video.

MAD Lions KOI start making noise

Now, Jojopyun seeks to continue to make history, this time by becoming the first North American player to play in the LEC.

As for MAD Lions KOI, it remains to be seen whether the Spanish organization will look to make further changes to the roster with which to surround Jojo.

In truth, though, a North American player of Jojopyun's caliber performing in the LEC should be a spectacle to behold regardless of the names around him.
