Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov and Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev are two of the most important CS:GO players of the last five years.

S1mple is already a legend because he’s been around for more than seven years and won a Major with Natus Vincere, in addition to many other S-tier tournaments. But m0NESY’s star only started to rise in 2022, after he joined G2 Esports. Since then, the two players faced each other multiple times and competed in a lot of tournaments.

M0NESY’s Results in the Last 12 Months

M0NESY had several exceptional tournaments in the last 12 months. He always plays well, but from time to time he amazes people with his skills.

Thanks to his prowess, G2 Esports finished 3rd – 4th at ESL Pro League Season 16, 1st at BLAST Premier: World Final 2022, 1st at IEM Katowice 2023, and 1st – 2nd in the closed qualifier for the Paris Major.

It’s hard to overstate just how good m0NESY is right now and he is just 17 years old! When it comes to being a prodigy, he qualifies for the adjective more than almost anyone else in the history of CS:GO.

For his performance in 2022, m0NESY was ranked 7th in the world by HLTV. In 2023, he will likely finish in the top 3 if he continues like this.

S1mple’s Results in the Last 12 Months

S1mple had a rough season in 2022 and his team, Natus Vincere, is currently under construction. The addition of Andrij “npl” Kukharsjkyj to the roster resulted in some systemic weaknesses and it will take a while longer for Na’Vi to patch the holes.

The most important results obtained by Natus Vincere in the last 12 months were these:

  • 2nd place at PGL Major Antwerp
  • 1st place at BLAST Premier Spring Finals 2022
  • 2nd place at IEM Cologne 2022
  • 5th – 8th place at IEM Rio Major
  • 5th – 6th place at BLAST Premier World Final 2022
  • 3rd – 4th place at IEM Katowice 2023

For any other team, these results would have been amazing. But Na’Vi want to win S-tier titles. However, despite the “failures”, s1mple was named by HLTV the best CS:GO player in the world for the 2022 season. So it’s pretty clear that he’s not getting weaker, even though his team is not in top shape right now.

Overall Comparison Between The Two Players

M0NESY and s1mple are both fantastic CS:GO players. In the last several matches disputed between G2 Esports and Natus Vincere, m0NESY dominated s1mple in the 1v1 duels and his team emerged victorious. However, s1mple is still the better player for the time being.

His overall legacy cannot be compared to that of m0NESY because he’s been around for much longer and has won a lot more important trophies than the young superstar. But maybe by the end of this year, m0NESY will have surpassed s1mple in skill. We’ll see how both of them do in the qualifiers for the Paris Major and then at the tournament itself.
