Dragon X (DRX) is a leading name in Korean Valorant. The Dragons have been representing Korea on the international stage since the dawn of Valorant. The year of 2023 was a tough one for the team, with 2024 in sight, they have made significant changes to the roster.

For 2024, DRX has decided to promote Cho “Flashback” Min-hyuk to the main roster. Flashback previously played for DRX Prospects, their Academy roster.

Additionally, they have decided to bench long-time members Goo “Rb” Sang-min and Kim “Zest” Ki-seok. Rb and Zest are now restricted F/A and are open to try out for other teams.

The roster shuffle comes after a series of disappointing international results.

The DRX squad for VCT 2024 is as follows:

The series of changes follow a disappointing VCT 2023. Coming into the new partnership program, DRX had a long legacy in Korean Valorant and had made some huge strides in international Valorant events.

Their selection as one of the ten VCT Pacific teams was certain since the day the new system was introduced. The organization decided to keep the Valorant Champions 2022 3rd-place roster and added Foxy9 as a sub.

The reasoning behind the decision to add Foxy9 was to train a future prospect. Throughout the VCT Pacific 2023, Foxy9 played with DRX as the duelist, with BuZz as the Sentinel and Rb flexing around. Zest only scrimmed and played for a few important matches throughout the year.

Unfortunately, the experimentation backfired and they struggled to achieve a significant international placement. They even placed second at VCT Pacific, a spot which was theirs for the taking considering their history of dominance.

Since the disappointing conclusion to VCT 2023, DRX has been experimenting with Flashback. They played both RedBull Home Ground #4 and 2023 TEN Global Invitational with Foxy9 and Flashback.

A change was due for the squad and it comes with Foxy9 and Flashback replacing Rb and Zest in the roster.

Flashback is a well-versed Sentinel player and will likely take over the Sentinel role in the team. Foxy9 is a previous Duelist main who was seen playing flash-initiator for the team. With the new additions, it will be interesting to see what roles they play and how they fare.
