Dota 2 patch 7.38c remains largely unexplored, but trends are already beginning to take shape. FISSURE Universe Episode 4 has concluded, and BetBoom Team has been crowned the winner.

They seized the opportunity created by the chaos of a mid-tournament patch and emerged victorious in the end. In this article, we’ll take a deep dive into how the professional Dota 2 meta is evolving, using the latest tournament as an example.

Dota 2 Meta Recap for Patch 7.38c at FISSURE Universe Episode 4

Jakiro Reigns Supreme

Jakiro is still the best hero after patch 7.38c.

Despite a series of nerfs, Jakiro remains the strongest of the popular heroes in 7.38c. The hero received yet another round of nerfs before the playoffs but still delivered spectacular results. By the end of the tournament, Jakiro had won 59.18% of his matches.

He was tied with Tiny for the most appearances in the tournament, but their performances couldn't have been more different. Tiny, who also faced successive nerfs, had a disappointing 48.98% win rate across the same 49 matches.

Coming in third in terms of popularity was Muerta, who had a tough time, appearing in 41 matches and securing only a 46.34% win rate. The Top 5 hero list highlights a clear trend: strong support heroes continue to shine. Both Jakiro and Ancient Apparition had excellent performances.

Monkey King and the "Shadow Meta"

Dota 2 is all about recognizing patterns, and this skill is especially valuable in the early days of a new patch. With that in mind, let’s revisit the Monkey King debate. He has been consistently strong for a while now, winning two out of every three games he played in this tournament.

If you’re looking for an edge in your ranked matches, there are other strong picks to consider. Nature’s Prophet, Tusk, and Gyrocopter all appeared in over 10% of the games, each securing a win rate above 60%.

We previously discussed the performances of these heroes at PGL Wallachia Season 3, and some of their trends continue. While Muerta seems to have hit a wall, Monkey King remains a top performer, proving to be a valuable draft pick. Expect him to be a key player at ESL One Raleigh.

The End of an Era

Finally, we’re witnessing the end of an era as Dragon Knight falls from dominance after an entire quarter of success. While still popular with 37 matches played, he struggled significantly, managing only 14 wins and 23 losses, giving him a 37.84% win rate.

IceFrog has worked hard to balance Dragon Knight, but it seems the latest tweaks have made him nearly unplayable. At the same time, Muerta's win rate has dropped from 61% to just 46.34% at FISSURE Universe Episode 4.

With all these shifts, we’re likely to see new core heroes rising in the next tournament. However, if you prefer playing support, Jakiro and Ancient Apparition are still strong and reliable picks. Next stop: ESL One Raleigh on April 7th.
