Dota 2 just wouldn’t be the same without its beloved hats and with that in mind, Valve has officially opened the voting for the next iteration of the Collector’s Cache in Dota 2. This special treasure features the community’s most upvoted hero sets, which will be released in a curated collection once voting concludes.

If you want to have your say on which sets make the cut, the voting is already live on Dota 2’s home screen. It began on October 7 and will run until October 22, giving players a couple weeks to upvote or downvote all 283 available options.

Dota 2 and the Collector’s Cache

Little Mermaid Theme

The voice of the people is the voice of the Ancients, and that holds true in Dota 2. The Collector’s Cache tradition showcases the creativity of the community — and sometimes, it even hints at upcoming updates. After browsing through over 50 sets, two major themes stand out this year.

The first is pirates and sea creatures.” There’s a flood of scallywag-inspired outfits, pirate treasures, chain-laden armor, and scuba-themed sets. Many heroes have multiple options in this category, and unsurprisingly, most of them look fantastic.

Adding fuel to the excitement are rumors about a rumored unannounced hero nicknamed “Bard Frog.” If that turns out to be true, the pirate and nautical theme fits perfectly. There’s also a notable number of “persona” sets this time around, which are bound to attract votes — if not for their aesthetics, then for the hope of unlocking a new persona in the future.

Kings and Queens of the Jungle

The second standout theme revolves around jungle and forest creatures. These sets reimagine classic heroes with lush, nature-infused designs. One of the most eye-catching examples is a Dark Willow set apparently inspired by Little Red Riding Hood, blending fairy tale elements with Dota’s vibe.

There are a lot of interesting concepts with this theme as well.

This could also hint at an upcoming seasonal event. While Quartero’s Curios is still ongoing, Halloween is just around the corner — and nothing says spooky like wandering through a dark forest in the dead of the night. Diretide has already set a high bar for Halloween events, but perhaps this year, we might get a new contender to shake things up a little.

Kez Will Get His First Set

Finally, there’s good news for Kez players eager to show off some flair in their matches. I saw at least a couple Kez sets up for voting, most of them creatively playing into the “Bird Samurai” theme.

Out of the ones I’ve seen, my personal favorite is the set on the right — it features a striking bright red headpiece and elegant details on the geta sandals, making it stand out beautifully.

Closing Thoughts

While it’s not the much-anticipated gameplay patch, the Collector’s Cache is still a bright spot for Dota 2 players worldwide. It gives fans something fun to do while queuing for matches and lets the community shape the game’s ever-growing cosmetic world.
