Syrson steps down:

Florian “syrsoN” Rische, AWPer for the German CSGO team BIG Clan, has decided to step down from the active roster. This comes after an elimination from IEM Katowice 2023, following losses to Team Spirit and G2 Esports in the group stages.

SyrsoN himself has yet given a reason for this decision.  All we have at the moment is this tweet from BIG’s Twitter account, saying he stepped down for personal reasons.

syrsoN will not be taking part in BIG’s qualifying campaign for IEM Brazil, which will begin on February 8. BIG Academy AWPer Marcel ‘hyped’ Köhn has been temporarily promoted to the main roster to replace syrsoN. And it is very likely that he is going to make the jump permanently.

History with BIG:

syrsoN has been a pivotal member for BIG ever since he joined the roster in 2020. He has helped them accomplish many accolades and trophies, including but not limited to IEM Season 15 Global Challenge, Blast Premier Spring Groups 2021, and the Roobet Cup in 2022.

However, BIG have not managed to find the same level of success in recent years. They also failed to qualify for Blast Spring Finals 2023, and will have to play in the Spring Showdown to qualify for the Spring Finals. SyrsoN himself also hasn’t been feeling great, having just recovered from COVID.

syrsoN’s contract with BIG is still active until the end of 2023, and it is unsure if he is willing to make a roster move at this time. Other teams might make offers for a player of his caliber before the start of the qualifiers of the Blast Paris Major.
